I saw Dave on June 24, 2008! It was so amazing (and Tim Reynolds was there too). This has been a goal of mine for 11 years. Now I’m going to try to go every year. :)

From a recent announcement:
We are pleased to announce the 2008 Dave Matthews Band summer tour dates! DMB will be hitting the road in late May for a full summer tour which includes a return to Canada as well as a few places where DMB hasn’t performed in several years. In addition, DMB will also be adding a few new stops to this summer’s tour! Below you will find a list of all confirmed dates, including information on the host of talented support acts that will be accompanying DMB on the road.
Fans attending DMB shows this summer will be the first to hear the latest material from Dave Matthews Band as the band debuts songs from their forthcoming record. DMB is currently in the studio with Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Alanis Morrisette) working on the yet-to-be-titled album! Guitarist and long time friend Tim Reynolds is playing on the album, marking his first recording with DMB since 1998’s Before These Crowded Streets.

Just wear a raincoat in case the guys in the back decide to spill beer all over you!
So I was a senior in college, working the afternoon shift at Starbucks (this was 1995, mind you). Two guys walk in to the otherwise empty store and I immediately notice that one is very tall, looks very sleepy and has an interesting accent. Even better, he’s wearing something that looks like pajama pants. They order four grande lattes with extra shots of espresso—it appears they REALLY need to wake up.
As I make their drinks, I keep thinking that the tall guy looks familiar. Finally it hits me—I think he’s Dave Matthews, but I’m not certain (they still weren’t hugely popular yet, especially not in Houston). So I took a chance and asked, “Are you playing here tonight?” They both looked surprised and DM said, “You know who I am?” Then he asked if I was going to the show, and I told him I didn’t have tickets. He told the guy he was with to get my name and put it on the guest list for that evening’s show. My boyfriend and I went that night, got in with no problem, and had a great time (the band was predictably fantastic). And I get to tell everyone that I met Dave Matthews at Starbucks. Not too shabby.
But I probably wouldn’t go again because I don’t like their newer stuff. I loved the first 5 albums (Recently, Remember two things, Under the Table and Dreaming and Crash and Before These Crowded Streets) as well as some of their live stuff, but I haven’t really liked anything since.
