I think the only thing to be done to secure a safe future for ourselves and future descendants is to leave our current path of technocracy and leave the whole idea of the technocratic world behind… instead we should be working to be in close unison with nature, nothing invented by man has reached near the perfectness of natures design, yet we continue to destroy already perfect creations to create less perfect creations with the motivation of money, greed and conveniency to the detriment of our own existence… we can build our own futures though and start to become self-sufficient and self sustainable by observing and incorporating natures system into our lives… if you are interested in this sort of notion you may like to read a series of books by a Russian writer called Vladimir Megre, The Ringing Cedars of Russia series are the books, the first being titled Anastasia, it was after reading these books that started me on the path towards “going back to nature” so to speak…

Can A Technological Society Live in Harmony With Nature? 2 years ago

I think the Industrial Revolution took us away from our ability as Human Beings to live in Harmony with nature. We need to cultivate the resources that are available to us from nature more responsibly. We waste a great deal. This planet is the only one we have. How do we expect to ever get to a point where we can leave this planet, if we don’t operate more efficiently as a people?

We can probably learn something from cultures who have lived off the land, without destroying it. When we take from nature, we should also plan to give back to it. This is possible.

Renewable energy sources, such as Solar Power and Wind, are perhaps the best methods to begin moving in this direction.

Businesses are most typically Not required to recycle in any way, even though they produce the majority of the waste. This is a problem. What kind of example are we setting for the rest of the world when we don’t try harder to live in harmony with the planet?

I fear that the current Global Warming trend may lead this planet to a point we won’t be able to back out of. We can learn to treat our home better (essentially, this is what the Planet is, though many of us don’t think of it as such), or, we can choose to deal with the consequences…I’m doing my part to recycle, but it takes individuals who are currently hoarding resources to do their part in making change occur…

Vegetarianism 2 years ago

As someone who believes in minimizing suffering and as someone who believes in Karma, I’d just like to point out what a worthy goal I believe this is. The hypocrisy surrounding meat consumption is astounding. Most people who eat meat only do so because someone else is killing the animal. As a result of being detached from the killing process, they don’t really think that what they are eating is something that used to be alive.

On that note, you can always eat tofu based meat substitutes. They taste great, all you have to do is cook these products in the same way you would cook meat. Some products that are good are the ones provided by the Seventh Day Adventist (I was raised in an SDA home, but the SDA religion doesn’t encompass all my beliefs on morality). Some products with a considerable amount of protein are “Big Franks” (tofu dogs) and “Redi-Burger” (tofu hamburger).

river cottage experience. 3 years ago

so ive been watching the river cottage experience on the google box and im inspired.
ive always had strong views on animal welfare in meat production and bought meat that reaches this high standard. but this program brought it all together and now im thinking of going veggie.
why do i need to eat meat anyway? animals and birds produce protein for us in the form of milk, eggs etc and protein is in nuts and stuff so why would i want to kill animals?
