The local community college offers Saturday morning intro to printmaking classes (for credit), but I’ve been so busy with school that I haven’t been able to swing enrolling in it yet… In a year or two I’ll do it, though. This goal exists to remind me. :)

Here’s what I did that I feel like fulfills this goal:
I was asked last December to participate in our local great contemporary art nonprofit’s annual printmaking fundraiser. It was a blast to be there among so many other respected Portland artists and play for a morning. Especially blissful because I had the pre-travel stress thing going on and it gave me a few hours of relief as I slipped into artmaking bliss.
The next day, I went to a two week residency, and brought with me a big stack of paper and a bunch of vinyl and my favorite scissors. Inspired by the prints I had made the day before, I moved on from that in the work I did for the next few weeks, and found a way to successfully translate my sculptural work to 2-d. I feel really satisfied with this particular medium and so I am going to create a new goal—to continue to develop this new 2-d work and find a venue to show it.
The feedback I’ve gotten so far has been really positive, and I haven’t even sought it out. That is a good sign that I might be on to something good. Hope so!!!

Because I think it will be a good way for me to add some 2D work to my repertoire. This image by a local artist inspires me.
