play the flute

I am beginning to really enjoy the flute because I can actually play a whole piece from beginning to end. I still find it challenging to breath through two measures but the breathing exercises really helps. I try to practice at least every other day…I might actually be performing at a recital…am quite excited.

When i was in junior high, I played the clarinet in band but my heart was set on the flute because that’s what my sister played in school. I remember finding the flute on the bedroom floor and I was enchanted by its looks and the sound as well.

I actually was given a flute for Christmas a couple years ago and I tried to play it but now I have forgotten everything i taught myself. I don’t want the flute to just sit there and collect dust.

Okay, so i’m down to one last playtest and its the flute. I’ve been putting this one off because its pretty hard for me, but now that i’ve got the fingerings down for saxophone its getting easier to work through.

I don’t love playing flute, but the nice thing about it si that i can practice at home without driving anyone absolutely crazy like i do when i play sax or trombone.

I’ll be glad to be done this one. And despite the fact that there are instruments i’d prefer to play, its giving me a respect for the flute family in general for sure.

I just learned to repad flute keys and boy am i glad, i now know what was wrong with my playing: There are giagantic leaks in the instrument!

I’ll start seriously focusing on playing flute in november.

I’m lucky that i have people around that know how to play flute, because its a CRAZY instrument.

I started yesterday just blowing on the head joint. It took me a while to feel like i was doing it correctly. But now i’m cool with it, and this evening i’m gonna add in some tones.

Gotta have this down in 6 months and be able to at least play a chromatic scale.

playing the flute is fun i am still trying to find music sheets for the titanic theme song though.

I have been taking my flute on business trips – I have worked out of town every week since Sept ‘07. I have been able to practice in the hotel rooms. As long as I don’t play too late, I don’t feel I am bothering people in neighboring rooms. I practice the 3rd octave sparingly.

Happy to report my tone is becoming more consistent.

I love playing the flute. I played in high school and was fortunate to travel through Europe playing in the band. It was a great experience. I picked it back up as an adult, and was amazed that I still remembered all the notes and could still play really well! Playing the flute is healthy for you too! It helps tone your lungs and make them more efficient, providing more oxygen to your body. I played the piccolo too. I would LOVE To learn to play the Native American flute. I will add that to my 43 THINGS!

I picked up the flute when I was in 3rd grade and it came very easily to me. Ended up competing and doing reasonably well and here I earned scholarship money for college.
