....I’m going to shut this one down. I’ve done it. It is seriously a part of who I am.

Local Thanksgiving.... 2 years ago

...last year I was happy that I got my turkey locally. This year I improved upon that a little bit. In addition to local fresh delicious turkey, we also had local butter, milk, apple cider, apples, potatoes, cranberries, and squash. Plus my locally roasted coffee (they grow it in south america, but its roasted 3 miles from my house). I’d wanted to make my own vanilla ice cream to go with the pie, but ran out of time…..next year. Always room for improvement, but I was happy.

Sad as our local growing season comes to an end..... 2 years ago

our town farmer’s market and my CSA pickups are done for the year. We’ve enjoyed so much of our local bounty however didn’t really put that much in the freezer for the winter :(

Today I did make a trip over to our local family0run turkey farm and stocked up on some meat for the freezer and placed my order for a fresh thanksgiving turkey.

Our town has a new farmers market! 2 years ago

Ok, despite my CSA membership, I couldn’t resist stopping at the new farmers market. It was wonderful. I really didn’t need any veggies, because I’m a little overwhelmed with a bumper crop of tomatoes and my other veggies from the share. But it was still great to go and support the local farmers. I only got honey today (the only thing I truly needed) and will plan for next week. There was a wonderful bounty!

I do this through a CSA 2 years ago

KNown as “Community Supported Agriculture” we pay yearly dues to run the farm and get a share of the crops. Every week my kitchen is filled with locally grown, organic and beautiful veggies and herbs of all varieties. It is awesome!

Find one near you.

I'm ODing on tomatoes! 2 years ago

Heirloom, modern and golden cherries. Delish. I really need to get freezing some sauce rather than just gobbling them up nonstop!

Found a new restaurant...... 2 years ago

.....that serves dishes made from local ingredients. Granted its only some of the dishes, but it gave me the choice to eat locally; which I did!

I’m reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingslover. She IS an inspiration.

Doing well 2 years ago

The CSA veggies are great. Been eating all local veggies and fruits and have done a little bit of freezing of green onions and shredded zuchini. Easy. Other than some of the lettuce that went bad in the fridge, we’ve been eating the rest.

Yesterday a friend brought us blueberries from her yard. This morning I made blueberry pancakes with her blueberries, local milk and my homemade maple syrup. Meals like that make me very happy. :)
