I am a official UNC student. After applying on more than one occasion and being turned down, I applied as a part time degree seeking student and got in. I have to get C or better grades for two semesters and I will be enrolled as a full time student. I go to classes with everyone else and no one knows I am part time. I am an older nontraditional student and have had several challenges throughout my scholastic career. It is doable and possible. If you are trying don’t give up!!! there are ways to get in even after you are rejected. I am living proof and finishing my first semester as a tar heel.
How to get into UNC
How I did it: Persistence. Don't give up if you are not accepted. There are ways to get admitted to the school. I won't go into detail here but I can tell you how I did it if you are interested.
Lessons & tips: Check out the continuing studies program. It is offered through the Friday center. You still have to apply to UNC but you can go as a degree seeking part time student. By maintaining C's or better after 2 semesters you can be admitted full time. A lot of people, especially older students do this. I have friends that started this way and now they are in med school.
Resources: Admissions at UNC, their coounselors are very helpful.
