...That has tons of record players, but they’re too expensive. I need to find a new place…Research time!
How I did it: I remembered that my mom had my grandmothers old record player/stereo, so when i went home to visit i found it. Checked it over and made sure i worked, and my mother said i could have it. Which is awesome, not only do i have a record player, but it is a totally vintage one (it even has a 8-track player on it)

In addition to the turntable we recently bought, we also purchased a 1960s refurbished General Electric Solid State Automatic record player through eBay which among other things, is also capable of playing the rare old 78 RPM records we occasionally find in estate sales/eBay/garage sales (the turntable is only capable of playing 33 RPM records and 45 RPM records). Nevertheless, the turntable has a much better sound quality which it produces in conjunction with our receiver and our home theater sound system while the record player is only capable of producing sound through its internal speakers.
Eddie bought me one for my bday! Yay! Have to set it up with our new entertainment system today or tomorrow.
A couple of days ago, I rummaged through my grandmother’s basement and discovered a working record player. I was ecstatic, because I have been meaning to buy one for years. Now, all I need is some cash to buy more vinyl. Well, good luck in your quests to acquire a piece of the past.
I somehow ended up with my granny’s best friend’s record collection (wonderful old records in those nifty sleeve-y albums) but I have nothing to play it on. There’s also a great little used bookstore/record shop at the end of my block, and it kills me to hear people ask the owner where they can get such-and-such album on CD. If I had a record player, I swear I’d help him stay in business. I want to play scratchy old blues records and drink rusty liquor in my kitchen.
Lucked out and found a classified ad for a “record collection” called the guy, he said he wanted $100, went to pick them up and there where over 900 records! So I obviously had to go right out and find a record player! Well worth it, great way to pass the time.
I’ve been collecting records…yet I have nothing to play them on! A few of my favorites are Jefferson Airplane, The Beatles, Nico and The Velvet Underground (fancy Andy Warhol album!)...
I’m a silly backwards buyer.
