trace my family history

Came across some documents and a large family tree of my father’s side… Learned quite a bit more and confirmed many of my grandmother’s facts. Also saw her family’s coat of arms which was really wonderful. I can’t wait to look into my mother’s side next.

Started interviewing my grandmother to get my father’s side of the family, as many of them aren’t alive any longer. Don’t know when I’m going to do my mother’s side, but this is plenty for now. So many names and stories.. it’s all swimming around in my head, and notebook. It’s good to do this now, when you think of it. Now is as good of a time as any.

ok so apparently my mums side comes from India and Holland.. My dads side from France and Madagascar… and someone in my mums side was apparantly disowned because she married a person beneath her in the social hierachy and she used to be really rich. I aslo learnt my grandmas parents died so they took her out of school and made her do chores and stuff. the world is such a lovely place :/ but being Mauritian i now know my family history :)

Traced some of my mother’s side today (apparently my father’s doesn’t exist) and found out I have ancestors from Austria! I never knew that one. Genealogy is so interesting!

i lost history with my family because when i was 4 years old i was out in a foster home and never knew my mother

I have to be honest, I have been carrying out this research on and off for 16 yrs.

Ain’t picked it up for about two years though, need to get back on with it

My grandmother’s recent heart attack (she is 94 years old) has reminded me that I must trace my family’s history soon before it is too late and it is all lost. As for the other side of my family’s history, that is already lost due to the deaths of my other grandparents. I feel like I don’t have much time left to complete this..

I want to trace my family history as far back as possible.

My aunt and cousin are doing the computer work and my grandma and I are putting the hard copies in order. We’ve gotten over 1000 names in the past two weeks. We’re so busy, the work is endless.
