How to pass my first year of university
How I did it: I did as much as possible! I went out, made friends, I studied, I joined clubs, but mostly I just joined in! Lots of days I was in university from 10 am through to 9pm because I lost track of the time, and near deadlines I had to pull a few all nighters (I think i did a straight week of them in the run up to christmas) but it was a lot of fun. Basically I just tried hard.
Lessons & tips: Organise your time (you need to work AND have time off), try your best and remember that eatting and sleeping are kinda essential life support systems so you can't abandon them (completely).
Also, and nobody wants to hear this, but not drinking booze substantially increases your available cash and reduces the amount of time you spend with a headache XD. It is possible to go out clubbing and enjoy yourself without it :)
And one last thing, getting together to buy and cook food reduces the food costings a bit, is much more fun and means you get a greater variety of meals. It saves time too. Take aways aren't a cheap option. Get a decent student cookbook :D
Resources: Parents, friends + boyfriend (good for eatting with and stopping you going insane), people on the same course (invaluable study support who can help with stuff you missed or didn't get, or just confirm the fact that, indeed, nobody understood a word of that lecture and the guy up the front FAILED :P), technicians, lecturers (you'd be surprised how much you can get them to fix up for you if pestered enough heehee), library (they have books on EVERYTHING), internet and laptop (info and entertainment), printer, info on how to do Harvard referencing and chilli heatwave doritos etc
