avphibes is getting my household in order

    Digitizing 9 months ago

So I’ve decided with the new year to try to keep as much information digital as possible. I’m converting over to keeping all of my addressbook contacts, lists and schedules on my mac, so I can have everything on my iphone and not have to carry around notebooks or a dayrunner.

I’ve also gotten rid of most of the junk in my office, which is now much cleaner and roomier.

Job. Closet. Photos. 1 year ago

I sat down and wrote out some “rules” for my job to keep me from getting mired in unfruitful projects. I managed to whittle it down to 2 questions which, if I can’t answer satisfactorily, I cannot go forward on a project. This has been quite helpful.

I cleaned out my closet and got rid of everything that does not fit properly, is uncomfortable or inconvenient to wear, makes me look wide, is pretty much a duplicate of another garment which I prefer over it, or I just haven’t worn in over a year and don’t see myself wearing anytime soon. I got rid of two big bags of clothes and now can fit all my clothes into one closet instead of having them scattered between two.

I have a big box of photos that I have been meaning for years to put in albums, but have now decided instead to just scan and put into iphoto and throw out the originals, since I rarely look at “real” photos anymore and photo albums take up too muchc space.

    job 1 year ago

I think I’ve at least mentally streamlined my job. I’ve pretty much laid down that ALL my company does is create designs for licensing. I shut down my web-store and I’ve established that I don’t do freelance jobs anymore. The next physical step in this process is to redesign my website accordingly to a simplified, information-only site.

Unfortunately, as I have to get rid of all the now-unneccessary stuff in my office, I spend all my time selling and getting rid of stuff and not doing my simplified job.

Still, once I get rid of this bulk, I’ll clear a huge amount of space in the office for other (hopefully also simplified) use.

music and undies 1 year ago

I know this is a meager start, but at least it’s a start:

Today I deleted all the superfluous playlists from my itunes and threw out all my underwear that I never wear because they’re uncomfortable.

    Other things on the agenda:
*Throw out unneccessary stuff from my files.
*get rid of all the books I have that I will probably never look at again
*convert all my music collection to digital files.
*Clean out the closets…get rid of clothes that don’t fit or that I never wear.
*liquidate as much inventory as possible
