I love every part of the concept of earthships. Yeah, it’ll take a while before it’ll become a reality mainly due to the cost, but I am up for the challenge. It is good for the environment, it will include the herb/fruit/vegetable garden of my dreams, it will be a completely self sufficient way of living and thats exactly what I wish for! I probably won’t build one ‘till I finish my education as a physician (when I can afford it), which will be in quite a while! But I won’t stop dreaming!

Honetly, this goal has nothing to do about “saving the environment” or what have you.
I want to live a sustainable, off the grid lifestyle.
To not rely on government or big companies.
Living in an Earthship would definitely facilitate a big chunk of that goal.
Oh, and I hate traditional looking houses. You know, the typical, suburban, looks-like-every-other-house-in-the-country type.
Earthships look awesome.
And…..I think they are cheaper to build than to buy a standard house? Correct me if I’m wrong…......
Our goal is to live a more sustainable life, and part of that is living off-grid in an earthship on the property my father left to me.
It’s safe to say this is one of the longer term goals in my 43 things. There are specialist architects such as ZedFactory that do zero carbon housing, and the Low Carbon Trust has built an earthship in Brighton. I’m not in a position to actually start work on one for a few years yet. I need cash and some idea of where I want to live, for a start!
So the starting point on this is more around getting involved in the field in some way. Joining some discussion groups, visiting an earthship, maybe helping to build someone else’s. Does anyone know any online groups related to this?

I have always wanted to build an earthship. My wife and I stayed in one in Taos last summer. That rocked. First I need to buy some land!
Earthships are a unique blend of innovative and old. They are houses dwellings and homes made from old tyers and just about anything you can get your hands on. Im going to build one of these some day
in a week we will be on the road heading to the Pagan Spirit Gathering, and have a workshop planned to share all that we have learned about Earthships. We are going to invite anyone interested to help us make it happen. We hope to start actually building it by next summer, and it will be good to have already drummed up some support, especially in the form of willing hands.
I’ve been interested in Earthship building for about ten years. I’ve never visited one, but someday I’d like to build one in th Adirondacks or in the Endless Mountains of PA.
