make an obscene amount of art this year

So I added this goal a very long time ago because I really liked the wording of it. I added it at least a year and a half ago. I can’t ever bring myself to check it off, though, so it continues to haunt my list. I think the trouble is that I need to define, for myself, what minimum amount of art needs to be created. The vagueness of this goal is prohibiting me from marking it completed. So I will be brainstorming this, and revisit this goal before January.

...and this goal is getting rolled over to next year. In a lot of ways it’s been a chaotic and busy year, and next year I’m hoping things will settle down so I will have TIME.

...so I’m just now feeling settled down. The great thing is that my new place has a garage, in which I’m going to make a studio area for myself. So far I’ve cleaned up the oil spill the last tenant left behind, and swept it out… I’m looking into lighting next. Then I’ll find some sort of old table or desk, and take my easel down there. It’s kind of nice that it isn’t actually attached directly to my apartment (I have to go downstairs and around to the other side of the apartment building) because it’s a separate space that I can get away to, hopefully with minimal distractions. Working in my bedroom is cramped, and I always wander off to get a snack, or vaccuum, or clean out a cupboard, or go get a cup of coffee, or check something on the internet (like… right now.) SO if I’m down there I’ll hopefully be removed from that stuff and work for hours. Especially if I invest in a comfy chair. AND I won’t worry about making a mess on the rug.

I’ve already got my next painting in the works.

Finished another painting. Made several sketches for another painting. Have a solid idea for the wall tapestry. Vague ideas also starting to float around… and already more productive (in the art area) than I’ve been for awhile…

Finished a large painting of silk crocuses I’ve been working on for a WHILE. Even though I didn’t start the painting this year, I’ll count it. Now that it’s done I’ll feel free to start antoher painting.
