mcolwell Being miserable about my picked up face....
....here’s my plight….I go a week, two weeks, then out of nowhere, I get a blemish just to the side of my nose, and of course, there is no visible head, just a festering bump that gradually gets redder and more painful…..what is your secret to get your mind away from methodically and painfully picking and pressing and shift to accepting and ignoring….any ideas? I really wish I could simply shift my focus, but it consumes me and I hate it….please help…

I think I’m getting closer to not doing this anymore. I do it most when I am stressed out or procrastinating. I found a video blogger who said that it was possible to stop (I’ve often felt that it wasn’t). I pick at the zits on my face and shoulders and it looks really ugly, (no tanks, lots of makeup). I read that to stop a bad habit you have to replace it with a good habit. I think that I am going to replace it with prayer, since that is something I can do at the spur of the moment. I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has completely stopped doing this or people who are making progress.

Sofia Woke up the worst mood ever... going to try to AT LEAST neutralize it!
Picking my zits seems to be something that I just do automatically, every morning or every time I’m in the bathroom.
So yesterday, I wrote myself a note and stuck it to the bathroom mirror.
“Do you want a pretty face and a happy smile? Then STOP PICKING AT THE PRETTY FACE!”
:P
Let’s see if it works!

Sofia Woke up the worst mood ever... going to try to AT LEAST neutralize it!
Okay, so today is the first day of a new month and I am going to try to keep my fingers away from my face for a whole month straight!

I read someone’s blog where they wrote an entry about zits (haha?), about how icky they were and how bad it was to pick them.
A girl commented on the entry and said that she didn’t think it was that bad, as long as you only did it when they ready to pop.
And for some reason… that really stuck in my head.
Usually I go for them as soon as I see one coming, but now I wait until it’s ready.
Haha, it sounds like I’m waiting for my date to get ready or something :D
But it really does work.
This has helped me to, first of all, let some of them disappear. If I keep touching my face all the time, I get more germs in there and it makes the situation worse.
Some of them go away before I even know it and I KNOW that it’s because I don’t go around fiddling with them all the time.
It’s great to have a (nearly) clear face :)

I haven’t had a break out in 3 weeks… this is unprecedented, and I stopped picking my face for the last 2 weeks… now if only my back would clear up

I’ve started washing my face every night before I go to bed which is the first step.
The second step will be harder.. I’m always picking my zits and it’ll be hard to stop :/
