orangeapple is setting goals

a dream 1 week ago

This is my goal in life – to become an animator. I’ve always wanted to work in the film industry, but I was uncertain of which career I wanted to pursue. There were so many options. Starting in elementary school and through high school until now I’ve experimented with many of the fields in the film industry. From my experience I’ve noticed I enjoyed working with characters and telling stories through their actions. I feel the need and desire to bring these characters to life and there’s not a more effective way than animation!

Of course I’m still interesting in similar areas such as storyboarding which is related to my passion for comics and good storytelling, so I may drift in that direction instead. However whatever career I choose, this is the general area I want to pursue, so I’m going to keep this entry as a reminder to me of my lifelong goal.

GOAL: Graduate from high school, get accepted into Sheridan’s animation program, work my ass off, complete the program, get an entry position, work my way up to animaton lead and keep working+learning until I retire to my grave.

I want to get paid 17 months ago

sure, I’m an animator… as in I’ve created animations… and I’ve worked in the animation industry as an intern, but someday it would be nice to get paid for it.

I’m currently at Sheridan in the Art Fundamentals course, trying my best to get together a portfolio good enough for me to be accepted for next year. Even being in the school around all the animation students is incredible and inspiring. So…I have a lot of work to do before portfolios are due in February.

So, I was accepted into art school and will be starting my first quarter in less than a month. I’d say I’m on my way to achieving this one. :D

I shall become... 2 years ago

Once i’m out of school, I wish to become one of the best animators out there! I’d like to work at either Pixar for cinema or Blizzard for games ;O

Yeah, another one... 2 years ago

sigh yes, I wish to have two completely different types of careers. This one is my fun one. Once I get my Veterinary out of the way, there should only be just a few classes I’ll have to take for Animation.

Anyway, I really want to turn Anne McCaffrey’s “The White Dragon” into an animated feature, but that’s not all I want to do. There are so many things I wish to do with this and all of them are almost constantly running through my mind. The only reason I’m doing Veterinary first is so that I’ll have something to fall back on if this falls out from under me (since, you know, The Arts don’t really make much money). I also procrastinate and don’t usually finish stories that I’m working on, so please! Please, please, please help me with this one!

if youre going to live in toronto, try for sheridan college’s animation program. pretty tough to get into, but as far as north america, calarts and sheridan are considered two of the best.

Patience 3 years ago

One thing you must have is patience. This is a career path that requires meticulous(sp?) detail, and an obscene amount of patience (in my opinon). But in the end, creating something that everyone else can appreciate is a great feeling.
