play the flute again

Met a guy at a coffee house last week that told me to get a flute and play again. The whole experience was magical so I know he’s right. I need a flute first.

BP has completely weakened my mouth, and therefore, my ambesure. But I hope practice will get things back to normal. And I enjoy making music.

I played the flute from age 9 to age 16 or so, and then on and off since then. I still have my flute, and can still make a nice sound on it, but I hardly ever practice. i want to get back into regular practice, and I would really like to play with some sort of ensemble again.

It took me 2 months to complete this since I needed a fair bit of practice before my sister’s concert. I did play there, and it went very well. The other flutist played a couple pieces that I easily could have done, and I should have told G I’d do them from the start. Oh, well. I’d like to keep playing – I’ll just have to torture Mom and the cat with my high notes. Have to dig up the music soon!

My sister has asked me to play along with her high school choir at their holiday concert on December 4. Whew – that’s not far away! Time to get going on this, since I told her I’d be happy to play for them – it was their suggestion, which I thought was sweet.

Like a total MORON, I packed up the flute music and sent it to storage. And I have no IDEA where in there it is. So I’ve added the goal of going there and digging it out. Sigh. MAD at myself.

I knew I held on to my flute for a reason. So now it is in the shop getting pampered. Cleaned, groomed, pads rehydrated and soon will be back in my hands to relearn.

I printed off a bunch of 3rd grade (lol) lessons to work on it on my own. But I can still get the notes out so that is great!

I can do this.

Dug out all my old music and boy, do I have a PILE of it for flute. Should be fun to go through and remember all those old tunes.

1. located flute i’ve had since high school
2. found local music teacher

next steps:
get flute tuned, etc…
call music teacher

I started playing the flute again in the summer holidays, but now I work again I didn’t play for at least 3 weeks.
A shame. Come on Jonas, are you a wussy?!
