When I was 16, I used to hitchhike to western France, region Aquitaine, near Bordeaux.
I spend my holidays there sleeping at the beach ;-)
Was a nice time.
After reaching the qualification for University, I spend roughly 8 months there and at other beaches in France.
Backpacking in Europe in the 80ies was extremly cool.
Right now I’m looking into doing one of those Sea-mester programs next summer, where you spend the summer living and working at sea while getting credits in oceanography. Hopefully I’ll be able to get financial aid and go!
