How I did it: My boyfriend and I travelled to Europe bound and determined to do this. We rented a lovely 2 door sports car [mercedes SLK] and got to experience what the car could really do! Driving around south Germany was an experience in itself. Read how I did it…

sixfootdoll gripping the steering wheel of my life.
Well, I finally got a driver’s license on October 2nd after 10 YEARS of having a permit… So progress to this goal has been made, somewhat. :-)
I remember the day I first heard about this “Autobahn” I just had to drive on it.
The idea of having that kind of need for speed, but also being very responsible while driving is very appealing to me.
much to my unknowing there are speed limits in certain areas. but they are there for good reason.
This is filed for later, when I’m actually in Germany and have a full driver’s license!
Went to Germany last year and had a friend rent us a Porshe. Was surprised that there are many parts of the autobahn where there are speed limits. Once we made it to the unlimited part, my heart was racing as I slowly started going faster. Made it to 256km per hr and would have gone faster if it wasn’t for the traffic. Next time I will do it at night when there are fewer drivers.

260kph in a bmw z4 coupe (from sixt.de) going from munchen to salzburg. I want to rent a porsche next -b ut you need a really good visa card (my generic nz one won’t do the trick). My ultimate goal is to go 300 on the autobahn. I think I’ll need something with turbos or a ferrari / lambo badge to push 300 though.
The autobahn is super super fun. I did 800km in 24 hours from koln -> munich and then around the countryside.
It’s also worth rerouting your trip computer to take you across some backroads in the country too – the backroads in germany are super fun for cornering and you can usually see far enough to make it safe to hoon around.
Just don’t be an idiot and race on the autobahn when there’s lots of traffic. Go somewhere quiet and endanger only yourself.
Petrolhead heaven. :)
