    Moving... 2 years ago

I recently moved to a different part of Oakland which has provided me with plenty of opprotunities to discover new routes to old haunts (read: I’ve been getting lost again a lot lately).

The new neighborhood and new place are great. I’m really happy that I did this, even if it did totally take over my life for the last month and a half. I’m still unpacking, still organizing, and still a little dishelved but it feels good and I am happy about it.

And all the other "cities" that surround me... 2 years ago

I managed to learn most important streets in LA, Hollywood, the beaches… even Compton. I never have to use maps anymore. Thank God, because I detest them. ;)

Got Lost and Got Found 2 years ago

We took a wrong turn yesterday morning on our way to the Richmond Bridge. Somehow…wrong turns always work their way into mine & J’s trips… But I was able to get us out of it fairly easy. And I even knew two of the street names to do it!

    Yay!

Took the scenic route 2 years ago

Had a bit of a drive around on Friday on the way to a friends place. Took notice of streetnames, but we’ll see if they sink in

I learned two! 2 years ago

So, yesterday I was describing an area to someone at work that I had never been to and later that night I actually passed by that building!

I made it a point to look at the street signs and remember what they were. Small, but something!

I'm so hopeless... 2 years ago

If someone asks me for directions to somewhere, I give them the most confusing long drawn-out set of directions.
Recently I was looking at houses, and i had to keep asking my workmates where all the streets were. I have no idea where anything is. And my “city’ isn’t exactly that big either!
This year I will familiarise myself with more of Griffith.

Already under way... 2 years ago

This morning when I was coming home I decided to start the New Year off right by taking a bit of a scenic drive. It was really nice and I tried to pay attention to things that I normally wouldn’t have.

So far, off to a good start!!

Wow...I actually know some 2 years ago

Someone was coming to meet me for coffee the other day and was totally in the wrong section of town. I am proud (and a little amazed) that I was able to give this person acurate directions to get to my side of town, including using street names. Yay!

How did I make it this far? 2 years ago

I’ve lived in my city for two years and still don’t know very many street names. So, learning the names will have multipile benefits:

1.) Know my way around better
    2.) Give better directions
3.) Inspire me to venture out of my comfort zones

I am going to really try to commit the street names to memory from now on instead of navigating by intuition or landmarks like I have up until now.
