Trying to use the materials I have and not buying new ones. Helps keep clutter down and amount of items to keep track off. Also, useful in the saving money area of things.
Sticking to the same applications and reminding myself.

Sometimes, taking the time to organize my thoughts really pays off! Makes it much easier to explain what I’m thinking and why. Also helps me clarify my own ideas! 2 weeks ago

I notice without very focused awareness of simplifying many processes, I start fragmenting somewhat quickly… not as quickly as I used to but then that’s been lulling me into early complacency…
I was thinking of a cheesy analogy, like de-frag for PC needed. 2 weeks ago

and applying it to 43things! my goal list anyway. I just like it better with fewer goals on it. Dunno. 3 weeks ago

Update:
Diet is going so/so… have been eating out a bunch. Now that I’ve got the kitchen clean again, I’ll start cooking most of our meals again just as soon as I’ve regained my strength (had a nasty cold)
Home definitely doing better on clutter busting since starting April bootcamp for Spring Cleaning.
Finances Huge strides here! Just got new accounts at the local credit union where my sweetie was already a member. We are setting up a joint account to cover our automatic bill payments. I now have a single dollar figure I need to save and transfer into that account by the first each month. I will continue to handle business expenses separately. Also I’ve started a money group with some friends. Learning lots, and keeping me honest as well as focused on this goal :) 3 weeks ago

There’s just so much to do in the spirit of this goal. How do you simplify the process of simplifying? Valid question, for me, really. I have to be careful not to overcomplicate making things simple XD ouch, I hurt me head. 1 month ago

also I have the notion that by ‘simplify’ in my life, means more than clutter. I have been known to be an anxious carrying-too-much with me everywhere person… increased stress and such. So many goals tie into this. 2 months ago

Brought it back as a reminder to stay on top of simplified life. Those habits that led to different types of clutter in the first place are still troublesome now and then. For instance, downloaded new apps and have some digital clutter. Nowhere near like before, but still. Staying on top of it :P 2 months ago

I feel as if I am making progress with this goal.
Diet: currently much more confident about eating well and being able to provide tasty yet fairly straight forward meals for M as well. I’ve been able to simplify in that:
- I am making hearty flavored oatmeals in our sow cooker for breakfasts. Nice and easy!
- I have several new stand bys, such a stuffed peppers and paleo lasagna for him. Also got comfortable cooking up and freezing a whole bunch is chicken at once to top salads for him.
- I am pre-emptively sautéing a whole batch o meat and onions together to be seasoned and paired w veggies for different dishes at the end.
- I am starting to keep chopped onion and hard boiled egg on hand.
- continuing to keep an open mind as I ponder further ways to simplify and still creat food we enjoy.
Finances:
Making a little more is allowing me to cover my bases with less stress. Also relaxing into focusing on my primary needs and letting the rest wait.
Home environment:
Definitely movin forward, but least gratifying category so far. Takes so much to maintain, it feels hard to get ahead.
Time management and weekend structure to meet our needs:
Refined approach. Sunday mornings M cleans out the fridge at ten an then helps me for 1.5 hrs w data manaent and business stuff. Sunday afternoons are for rest and personal time. Saturdays I am now working late morning to early afternoon. Theoretically Reston afterwards. I have been needing to let myself sleep in some on week day mornings to stay rested and chipper despite my seasonal allergies.
All in all, feeling on a firmer footing and more confident about how I am managing my life. 2 months ago

my approach to taking care of my responsibilities so that I can fit in what I need to while also creating space for joy.
Areas I want to simplify:
- Diet: Cook quicker, easier, less fancy meals
- Home: Identify things we can donate/recycle/give-back/give-away etc as well as tidy that which we want to keep.
- Finances: Choose how I want to distribute my funds each month and relax into following through.
- weekend structure: Create a consistent over all pattern and schedule for our weekends… including personal time, time for projects, social, appointments, etc. so that M and I can both get our needs met and be on the same page without having to constantly check in with each other over little stuff. 4 months ago

for Simplify, since I wasn’t sure what to do with it broadly, as I have other goals aimed at making lifestyle simpler, that are more specific.
So I read into ‘simplify’ as simplify by 43 Things goal list, because yes we are allowed 43, but does that mean we (or at least I) need that many? Okay, prob just me. I’m easily overwhelmed and have so many goals on the page can backfire for me… so I simplified the list. Down from 43… to 36.. now 31.. I mean I did actually do some things, and removing some goals that seemed redundant.
Anyway, I felt this qualified for me. :) 5 months ago

Moving into my own flat worked out fine. There’s more to do, since you can’t split work between flatmates, but everything is refreshingly uncomplicated.
My job change was a very good idea, too. I’ve switched to a company where I already knew half my coworkers. The work is a lot less chaotic and I focus a few tasks. Now I’m less stressed and at least as productive as before, if not more.
I also chose to work only 28 hours per week, so I don’t get a lot of money, but it’s plenty for my current lifestyle and I have enough time to do some fun things during the week. Highly recommended!
That leaves me with the question how I can simplify my life even further. Everything involving humans (family, dating, meeting new people) seems to be hard to simplify for me. Any suggestions? 6 months ago
