submit at least one first author paper by June '07

but such it goes. It’s actually not in JCP’s hands, yet. It’s in my advisor’s hands (where it has been for a few months). Oh, well. He says it only needs the most minor of revisions, so it’s as good as done, anyway.

but two! I’m in the middle of writing two manuscripts (yay for T_EX!); the data are not done for either, but mostly taken. They are exciting for one, but rather standard for the other. In fact, fingers crossed, one may even get me a talk at a conference in Paris this summer!

Now, if I can just get my laptop to work without having to continuously press down on the part of the case right next to the touchpad, we’ll be all set.

from february ‘07 to june ‘07. why? that’s 4 months, and my laser has been down for 5 (it’s working right now, though!). anyway, i hope to write on something to do with those shear waves!

the second article (with me as 3rd author) got accepted, so that was nice. i’m now taking a ton of data to put in a paper that will be submitted with a bunch of other people in a few months, so that takes me up to 3 non-first-author… first author is coming soon, though!

The way things look, this will likely not happen. None of my equipment is working right now. In fact, among the seven high power pulsed lasers in my lab, only one is working!

On the bright side, there was another article submitted with my name on it; I made a significant contribution to this article, I felt. I built and aligned the experiment, I all but took the data, and I showed the others how to do the data analysis. It’s not the best paper in the world (the data aren’t that interesting), but it’s a run on the board nonetheless.

But, as for first author, I may have to shoot for April instead of February.

I just heard that I’ll be coauthor on another paper that will be submitted, and this time I made a lot larger of a contribution. Still not first author, though, but getting closer!

because by then, I want to be done with a lot of data acquision, and I want to be thinking of heading out the door so I can walk in commencement three months after that. I don’t need to publish all my articles before I take off, but I want to get them out sooner rather than later.

sigh Gotta get them shear waves…
