The mailbox truly has been smaller lately. In fact, one to two days per week, it’s EMPTY when I get home from work. What a treat. I’m still working on some of the credit card offers, but I have definitely reduced my junk mail.

am I getting an American Girl catalog? It’s these stupid little dolls. I don’t understand. Please, take me off your mailing list!

It seems most of the junk mail is now credit card solicitations. How do I get off those lists? Hmmmm.

this was a leftover e-newsletter I subscribed to when I was a big sister. And I never used it then either.

to adirondackgetaways.com. If I want to go, I’ll visit their site. In other words, don’t call me, I’ll call you.
And no more Puritan’s Pride catalogs. If I need vitamins, I’ll let you know.

Called Pottery Barn and got off all their mailing lists. I like their catalog, but I simply don’t need anything from them. It just makes me envious. Als, I got e-mail from Heavenly today to let me know they just got 2 feet of snow. GREAT. No snow here and no snow when we were there in December. I clicked unsubscribe.

I cannot believe how quickly this stuff adds up. I got the mail when we got home last night. Pottery Barn Kids. Hello. Nice stuff, but I have no kids! So I called immediately. I think that’s a strategy. As soon as I get it, call and cancel. I also got off a Upromise student loan solicitation list on e-mail. Again, no kids people! Maybe I can stop getting free diapers in the mail too.

Unsubscribed to Puritans Pride, Booking Buddy (like when do I book travel?), NFL (I don’t know why I get that one). Then I unsubscribed to Cooking Light, Young Democrats of America (I don’t think I’m very young anymore) and Stonyfield Farms.
Deciding on whether to unsubscribe to any of my advocacy organizations. I don’t really read some of them. But I care.

In an attempt to reduce the amount of junk mail I receive (both paper and electronic) I am going to make a concerted effort to contact at least 3 companies per week to call or e-mail to cancel subscriptions to newsletters I don’t read, organizations I don’t want to give money to and catalogs I don’t buy from.
Then, in a few months, I’ll see if the amount of mail has decreased.
Today, I will start with: Country Curtains and Swanson Health Products.
