Ummm i didnt do that… i was trying to give up but i think i hit the wrong button and it went to completed! Opps, i so did not do this, i gave up!
How I did it: I started this when I started online banking because I didn't want to have a bankbook anymore. When I had my bankbook I would write in it what each expense was for to make sure I didn't get charged for something I didn't pay for. But with online banking I can't do that. So I then made a spreadsheet with Excel for both my checking account and Visa bill so I can verify that what I'm charged for matches my receipt. I also have it totalling so, if all goes the total matches my account or Visa bill. And then the accountant side of me wanted to know how much I actually do spend on books. So I decided why limit it to books? I then created categories and I categorize my expenses by those so I can see how much I spend on each. It's very interesting to see how much of my money goes where. It was a few days later that I realized that I'm practically doing my own bookkeeping.
Lessons & tips: If using a spreadsheet, make sure you take the time to set it up properly in the beginning or else you'll waste more time fixing it later.

greendragon1312 is having a great day
I know I should just do it, but I’m sorta forgetful and tend to work out finances in my head and not write them down. Good news…is still saving those receipts in a box bad news …the box is begining to look very intimidating at this stage…working on it

Well I thought that I had purchased the books, was in the dollar store with the books in my hand…no wonder I’m having problems keeping track of finances …working on it.

I have started saving all my receipts (the box is full and quite overwhelming I will probably ditch half of them) and hope to sit down soon and figure out how much I’m spending and on what (usually have a rough idea) but. Even bought two books from the dollar store one for a detailed record and a little one for my purse, (a little type A but maybe it will help me buy that home. Today is payday gonna start from now (must remember to stick the little pad in my bag.

Well i got paid on Wednesday and so far have tracked everything i have spent. I have since concluded that i really need a payrise!! Getting sick didnt help as that cost just over $100 with going to the Doctor and getting meds etc. So not happy about that! But i have glad that i have the sick leave available so it will not effect my pay. At least with tracking i am kind of thinking twice about buying things, for example i was thinking of buying lunch out today, but decided to save the cash instead :)

Okay i sucked at this for a first attempted. I know i should not have any excuses so i am not going to bore anyone trying to justify myself. I am simply going to take a deep breath and start from my next pay which is next week.
I have decided that if i really want to be getting to England i should be looking at saving $150 a pay. This is going to be tough. I need a payrise. I hope my bonus in June is something worth talking about!

I have decided if i am ever going to save i am going to have to find out where my money is going!! I know what bills i have each month but where is the left over part??? So i have decided to keep track of where i am spending and hopefully move some of this useless spending into my savings account!
I think the best time to start this will be on my next pay day, which is next Wednesday. Hopefully i can keep track of this for two months and see what happens.
My husband and I did this throughout April and we were shocked to see where our money went. This was amazing to see exactly how much money went towards alcohol..especially since I drink and my husband doesn’t. Do this it will blow your mind!
