I called my agent today and started the ball rolling. I let it lapse in June, which is so lame because I HAD THE FUNDS! So dumb. It’s embarrassing.
Part of what is in my way is not having my stuff together in other ways. Like knowing how much my laptop is worth and having the receipt handy. Or getting my hands on appraisals of jewelry and art. And furniture. I feel so disorganized. So, I’m winging it to get some insurance and then will update it once I have it. It’s going to be a lot of work, but worth it for the piece of mind!

DoctorTeeth says, "Oh Sky Cake, why are you so delicious?"
I only made this a goal because I kept procrastinating on it and waffling on what the “best” one was. Although there were things to like in each plan, picking a “good” one that wasn’t necessarily the best was better than having none for another seven years. So that’s finally done, it doesn’t cost much, and now (most) of my possessions are covered in case of some improbable accident.

it was raining in my apartment in my office where my printer and computer are. I meant to get renter’s insurance when I moved in here but soon forgot about it and it fell by the wayside. It was raining outside so in my panic the first thought in my head was that it was somehow coming from outside. I soon realized that it was “raining” harder in my office that it was outside. I had to get five buckets to catch all the water that filled up quickly. I called my dad, who is also my landlord, and he came over to investigate. The woman’s sink upstairs had overflowed and was coming down on me. She was sleeping so the sink was left unchecked. I had to move my printer but my computer, thank God, was okay and the printer was saved from any damage. Had they been damaged I would have been highly pissed. Time to seriously look into renter’s insurance. Hope I find some good rates.

My husband called, took 5 minutes, about $100 a YEAR so it’s affordable. Go for it.

I live on the ground floor with 3 other apartments above mine vertically, then there’s 31 other apartments in the actual building. What worries me most is someone’s pipes busting above me, a dishwasher or washing machine overflowing, or else the sewage backing up.
My apartment complex does not cover any damage from any sort of accident. I know that I need this, I checked on the price and it’s about $200 for a year. The only problem is that I don’t actually have that much right now. Oooooh right, the monthly payment system. Ok, I guess I’m out of excuses now. I’ll go check on it right now, promise.

I live in a basement with several water heaters and a laundary room on the other side of my apartment wall. I could see it flooding. And you never know what else will go wrong…

Well, I finally got my personal articles policy and renter’s insurance policy in the mail today! I feel so relieved knowing I am covered. I can’t believe it has been 4 weeks since my last entry.
