How to do well on the SAT

How I did it: I bought the official study book from the College Board in April (and took the exam in October) but did not actually begin studying until mid-July. Then I read through the explanatory sections at the beginning of the book and took two timed practice exams to see which sections I needed to work on. I realized that I needed most to work on math and the essay portion, so each day I would set aside time to work through the math section of one of the practice exams and write the essay. It went very well! I noticed my math score rising incrementally on each practice exam, until I ended up with a 690 on the actual exam. Lessons & tips: -If you already know that you can do well on a certain section, don't stress about it. I knew I would do well on Verbal and thus I only bothered to take those sections twice during my practice. If I had included those sections in my daily practice, I would have got bored and not done as well! Resources: The official College Board SAT Study Book. |

My first time I got 1960 combined.
650-Math
650-Critical Reading
660-Writing
I’d like to raise all of them up to at least 700 (really hoping for mid-700s for writing though) and get around 2100+ combined this time.
SAT date: December 6th, 2008

damn last time i got a 1450 overall _ and like a 900 out of 1600 so i was pretty much feeling pretty stupid…..tomorow i hope i do good

It shouldn’t be too difficult! Let’s say that I earn 750 on writing and reading, each. That puts me at 1500…and I suppose a 500 is decent for math. Hopefully doable, at least, considering I only had a 41 on that bit of the PSAT. =/
