grow peonies

I only hope someone will look after them when I’m gone. If so they’ll outlive us all.

Peonies can outlive most people if tended to properly. They must be divided and replanted every few years. When I was taking care of my ex boyfriends mother we had peonies in the backyard that had been living there for over eighty years. We picked all the blossoms and filled the house with them…every vase taken up, every room filled to the brim so much so that the frangrance lingered for weeks. And really, the only sweeter smell are french pink lilacs. I want to be able to tend to something that much. I want to give life to something that will outlive me.
