Get to know my sister-in-law.

This goal was formerly titled, “meet my future sister-in-law” but to date the wedding has come and gone and now my brother and his wife live in Hawaii. Where are my chances now? The good news is we’re emailing now so at least we have a steady communication going. I hope the longer we write the more we’ll get to know each other and when we do see each other it will be familiar. I’m glad that Katya got to spend time with her before the wedding though.

That the date of her bridal/lingerie party. I do not know if I’ll be able to go but I went ahead and bought her gift. I also bought stuff for me, not lingerie but shoes and a skirt. I really shouldn’t have done that. It was hard buying a gift for someone who’s about to share her life with another when I just ended my relationship. I had sent an email out to my family, including her, to let them know. Only my folks and she replied. She responded as a “non-family member” that I could talk to but really I hope she understands that I sent her an email because I consider her family too.

I finally got a chance to meet with Alexis again to discuss the wedding. So it’s January 20th in Annapolis at 11am. Good to know since I’m supposed to attend. The thing I dislike the most is not being completely informed on what’s going on. This is my brother, this is his wedding, why do I feel like I’m prying for information? Shouldn’t I be receiving weekly updates?

Anyhow, I felt bad for Alexis. It seems like she’s as sick of being asked about the engagement situation as I am when it comes to graduating. It also didn’t help that everyone was reminding her how often Josh would be away and were joking how he wasn’t even going to be there until two days before the wedding. I don’t even know if that’s true but I’m not even sure when he’s coming back or if he will at all, the military is so unpredicable.

I still want to meet with her and get a chance to just relax one on one. I told her since Nia moved to Baltimore that she wouldn’t be that far and we could hang out. I really hope so. I do like Alexis.

I met Alexis a year and a half ago, when my boyfriend and I went with my folks and their friends to a Navy game. Alexis is the daughter of some close family friends and at that time, didn’t know my brother. Afterwards my father thought it a brilliant idea to introduce the two and ever since Josh and Alexis have been inseperable. Now, with only half a year to go, the two of them are going to be married and I’ve only spent time with her maybe three times. I hope to meet with her, one-on-one, before the marriage in order to get to know her. This is a little easier since Josh is out of the States, but harder since I live in Richmond and she lives in Maryland. Right now we have started a corrispondence over email and hopefully we’ll be able to get together before the summer ends. I know it will be awkward a bit, so far we only have my brother in common and truth me told, he and I aren’t even close anymore. I just hope, if not to create a bond, at least to start a relationship that will show her how important it is to be a part of this family, and a way for me to still keep him in my life, even indirectly.
