Hannah_911 is learning about 43 things
I’m afraid of heights. I think that this would be an interesting way to try and get over this fear. I would like to float in earth’s orbit, i figure flying is as close as i’m going to get.
How I did it: I went to a trial pilot promo thing on the local craig airport. I bought this certificate for $50 and they let me "fly" a plane for about 30 minutes. It was supervised by a licensed pilot so there's nothing scary about it. The view up there is amazing! If I had better eyesight I would have gone and studied how to become a pilot.

I had 3 dreams in the row about flying in the plane. First one i flew in commercial plane, second, me and my daughter borrowed a jumbo plane and I was teaching her how to fly and in the third dream I was flying my own plane and I liked it, so in my dream I said I should add this goal to 43things and here it is. This skill may prove to be useful and it looks like a lot of fun.
i wanna be fly a plane i wanna work i wanna do something to do with planes or airport
Captainofthecandy is in college playing around
It just seems like alot of fun to do even if i just do it once
Every since the first time I watched Top Gun I’ve wanted to fly. Of course I’ve wanted fly fighter jets, like F-14’s or F-18’s. I never really did much about it until I was 19. One day I went to the Navy recruiting office and told them I wanted to fly. I was all good for ROTC with the Navy until some shit that happened when I was much younger showed up on my background check. At that point I was very determined to be an aviator. I started to go to college, studying Aviation as my major. I kept a toy F-14 in my backback for inspiration and watched Top Gun everynight while doing my homework. After a while school got boring and I couldn’t keep myself motivated (which is a totally different goal) so I dropped out.
A couple years later I joined the Army as an Infantry soldier. My recruiter tried to talk me in to flying helicopters, but that didn’t seem as fun as flying jets, so I said no. Even though I might still fly helicopters for the Army I have always wanted to fly planes.
My chances at being a Naval Aviator have pretty much passes. By the time my Army contract expires and I finish school and everything, I would need a waiver to fly. Flight school is competative enough without having to worry about a waiver as well. So I guess it’s flying private planes for me if I really want to fly. Thats not to bad I guess, flying is flying and it looks like a lot of fun.
Whoo hoo! 88% just like the three practice exams I took. They’re gonna grill me on ADF navigation when I take the oral, but at least I know what to study. Now I gotta get in the air…
Ground school is over, and while it’s still fresh in my brain, it’s time to take the private pilot written knowledge test. I’m scheduled for Wednesday at 11. Wish me luck!
There’s a flight bag by my bed with scads of manuals and tools. Classes start April 11!
For me flying a plane means complete freedom! If I fly a plane I can go to some places I can never reach without it…
