How to make my father proud

Heh... 5 months ago

So, my Dad left me and my Mom before I could remember him. At around 10 years old my Mom randomly ran into him and I met him for the first time. That first year he called a lot and we always went to movies together, but that was it. (Cant really bond with a movie, heh…) Lately he has never called except on his birthday and fathers’ day. (Didn’t call on MY birthday….) He has two good for nothing sons (half brothers of mine) that mooch off of him all the time, while I work my butt off trying to get A’s to make him proud. Well, that didn’t work, so I’m going to try something else. Any suggestions? Please? I really need them….^^”

“The one thing I want you to know, above all else, is that you can always come home if you need to.”
“I know, thank you.”
“You may not appreciate it now, but a lot of kids out there don’t have that option.”
“I know, I do appreciate it.”
“And if you’re ever in any real trouble, you know that you can always come to me. Because I’m the best person in the world to fix it.”

I couldn’t do anything but smile and feel my heart melting.

My Father is Impossible to please,
It seems the only way I could make him proud
would be to marry someone wealthy and buy him
a holiday home and a boat while kissing his feet
day in and day out.
So I give this one up:(

i guess it depends on the dad. achieving this goal may mean a lot to some, but my father is never fully satisfied. i made him proud when i graduated from college with honors, but now that i’m having trouble finding a job, he acts like i’m a screw up again. i think his viewpoint and way of interacting with me really have nothing to do with me or my life and how many things i achieve, but rather his worldview and unhappiness with his own achievements and life situation. i think it is better for me to let this one go although i would love it to be otherwise.

Dad said i could mark this as done 2 years ago

i called my dad a few nights ago, it was on of those random heart to heart type moments, and he told me i could mark this as done on my 43 things list.

meant alot that he kept track of it. so now i’ve checked this off, and i’m proud to say i made poppa bear proud

“I’m sure that you will soon have another adventure happening – whatever that may be, so to quote the old saying – when one door closes, another door opens. And always remember that we are very proud of you, and your wonderful achievement of successfully completing a big task”

Everyone tells me I’m the spitting image of my father. He raised my little brother and I alone and he’s so successful; he’s made me proud time and time again. I will repay him for that.
