Have a Beautifuly Wonderful 28th Bithday/Valentines Day

I had a wonderful birthday yesterday. It was very nice and so far 28 is good.

I have some really wonderful birthdays. My favorite of all time. It was my 9th birthday. My Dad took me to the fields to play softball. That was one of the things we always did. I had the best time. When we returned home Suprise all of my friends from school where there to eat pizza and cake and dane and be silly all night. That was probaly the best sleep over ever! My 7th birthday my Mom bought me the giant red and white teddy bear and my Dad bought me cowboy boots! I think I wore those things until my toes busted through the ends! My 10th birthday I got to eat cake for berakfast really! My Dad was leaving early that morning to go on the road. So they woke me up at 6:30 in the morning to a big cake with candles all burning bright and I got to eat a piece for breakfast with my Dad. How cool was that? My 16th birthday I was marching with an Independent Winter Guard so I had practice on my birthday. At the end of practice the captin Karen brought out a cookie cake and everyone sung! The gave me a card with cows on it and each one of them signed a cow! What a 16th birthday. Didn’t get a car but I got to travel for 4 months. On my 18th my friends took me out to this local mexican place for dinner got me a very perverted card! And told the owner it was my birthday. He had the cooke fix me up a plate of flan. The but a circle out of the middle and put a GIANT chili sticking straight up out of it. Very embarassing when you are wearing a huge ass red sombreo. lol My 25th birthday was celebrated in my new home of 1 week with my family and friends. We went bowling per my sons request and the went back home and he had picked out a cake with care bears on it for me! I love birthdays. I have had some really amazingly wonderful birthdays. And you know what tomorrow will be one to!

So this great day I am determined to have is 9 days away and this weekend the thought of that was really hard. It just sucks working in a greeting card store right now. You see all these guys come in a buy a card or candy and stuffed bear. You hear all these women walk around with their friends talking about their valentines day plans rambling on about what they know such and such is going to get them. I look out into the mall and I see nothing but couples! I read all the cards and just about cry because I have no one to give a card like that to. I had it in my mind that I was not going to let none of this bother me this year and I am trying real hard. But it just seems like its all being shoved in my face!

At work we started putting out Valentines Day items. I myself had to unbox and stock probaly 500 lbs of chocolate. I heart shaped boxes of all sizes, in lil Elvis tins, and Snoopy hearts. It did not bother me at all! The next night I had to start putting out the cards. I did not ready wany of them and I started to feel a lil blue among my sea of red cards. Well, I stopped it. I just told myself I was not gonna do this I was not gonna let this bother me. Well after telling myself that it did not bother me for the rest of the weekend at work. I will happily make it though this holiday….dateless…BUT HAPPY.

Yes my birthday is on Valentines Day. The Hallmark (mind you I also work for Hallmark) Holiday used to sell big gliterty cards and odd shaped stuffed animals. Well I have never really been thrilled when my birthday rolls around. Mainly because I would like to have an “other” for that day. It’s hard being single at times but its even harder when you go out to eat w/ friends or family on your birthday and the restaurants are infested with couples and roses. Buth this year the big 28 I will not think twice about it. I will not go through my routine os who cares, no I don’t want to do anything. This year I will have a brighter birthday than I allowed myself to have last year. Bring it on February 14!
