It’s been two years since I set this goal, and I’m doing pretty well at it. I rarely drink diet coke any more, just maybe when I go to a restaurant and I have that urge. Mostly I drink water and it has made me feel healthier. I used to have aches in my shoulder and hip and those totally went away. I really think I used to be dehydrated since I have since read that soda can dehydrate you and that’s about all I drank. Great article proves my point-”Too Much Cola Can Cause Muscle Problems” at

Yesterday I only drank half of what I’ve discovered is my ideal amount of daily water intake. I drank 2 more cups of coffee than I normally do and had a diet coke at the movies, shame on me. As I’ve learned, coffee and soda have dehydrating effects. I woke up with a sour throat, dry month, congested and shoulder ache. Maybe this isn’t all due to not drinking enough water, but I got up and immediately downed a bottle of water and my throat feels better already. I’m going to be more deligient in achieving this goal in the futue.
I really am doing pretty well with my drinking water goal, shunning my diet coke addiction. Water with lemon can be quite refreshing and saves money when eating out. A lot of people I know are also switching to water so it makes it easier to stay the course. My only downfall is when I go to the movie theater. I just can’t get myself to buy a water at the concession stand and those water bottles fit strangely in the holder cups for the seats. But if that is my only downfall, I’ll be doing good, glug, glug, glug….
