I can’t belive how helpful this site has been, mostly I was eating to much junk and maybe to much to drink too, but as far as knowing that you’ve eaten well; this site totally takes the guess work out

Yep, been eating lots of salads, greens, vegies, tofu, lentil burgers. Actually enjoying it a lot, might look into some other vegetarian foods. I want to try some asian soups, miso soup. Might try finding a recipe. yum

Found an Asian Vegetarian Restaraunt here in my city!
With good reviews, I might just try this tonight!

I love meat, but I’d like to cut back on meat for health reasons. I doubt I’ll be able to be completely vegetarian, but integrating more vegetarian options shouldn’t be too hard.
Right now I live at home and have little control over what kind of food is bought. As soon as I move out of this place I’ll be sure to come up with a workable eating plan to accomodate this goal. I foresee a considerable amount meat substitutes (seitan and tempeh, yum!). I have even purchased two vegetarian cookbooks to give me an idea of what I can do.
While less meat is a hard decision, I’m looking forward to a healthier lifestyle!
OK my weight is out of control again so I’m going to recommit to this vegetarian thing. I also went to a luncheon this week where the speaker talked about how cancer is linked to high levels of eating meat with preservatives in it. So out with the meat again. As a way to progress into it, I’m going to limiit fish or chicken to once a day until that feels ok, then I’m going to skip fish/chicken every other day then try to do the whole vegetarian thing except I’m not going to be fanatic about it—meaning if I go to a friends for dinner and they serve meat I’ll be polite and eat a small portion of it. Oh, and of course on Thanksgiving I have to eat the turkey. Other than that, vegetarian here I go.
Especially since
1)iron is more readily absorbed through meat than leafy greens
2)I like swiss and mushroom cooked together with hamburger meat
3)many more reasons that don’t need to be posted, because THIS is not a rant board.
I shall continue to try and with any luck I shall be seeing this goal on the right side of the screen with a nice big green check mark.
Having a lot of fruit and veggies around the house has helped though.

Meatless Monday is a national health campaign to help Americans prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer – four of the leading causes of death in America. It was started by the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, but has been adopted by many organizations. I tried to start participating a couple months ago but got off track. I’m now REALLY going to try to be a “Meatless Monday” advocate and participant.
I’m really having a hard time with this one. I am eating more vegetables and fruit, but come lunch and dinner it is hard to avoid meat. I guess what makes this evern harder is that I’m trying to avoid carbs such as pasta, rice and bread so if you leave out meat, you end up pretty hungry at the end of the day.I have to keep reminding myself, though, is that is a good way to lose weight, another goal I’m having trouble with, along with exercising. Eeek….concentrate, dedicate, commit.
