Pursue what I love

You know, it occured to me that I don’t really need to have this goal up here. Deep down, I know when I am not pursuing what I love. I get bored and restless. Sometimes it’s true that I don’t listen to this intuition. But inevitably I come back to it, hear what it’s saying and pick up the pen again.

I’ve mentioned under my ...but do it anyway goal that I’ve headed back to uni to do my Honours year. Well, my first class was today and I’m loving it! I had a real sense that this is where I am meant to be and what I am meant to be doing. I imagine that might wear away a bit as the hard slog begins, but right now I’m happy to ride this feeling.

I’m afraid this goal has been buried a bit under the onslaught of editing work I’ve had lately. I try to be accepting of that, because I have to make money somehow (and truthfully I’d rather do it in a field related to writing rather than some other way… unless it was by selling my writing itself). However this feeds my soul. I hope to be getting back to it over the next week or two.

The highest form of respect I can give myself is to allow myself to pursue my dreams.

That means writing. I know it’s the one thing I’d like to spend the rest of my life doing.

This is one of the eight main goals I have for 2007—other than my ultimate goal, learning to love myself. This goal also has two major subgoals:

• Aim to make a living
• But do it anyway.

The pursuit is already well underway, but this year I’d like to step up a gear or two.
