Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

indigostringsI didn't run 4 races, but I still think I did well.

For 2008 I would like to actually complete this goal… but at least in 2007 I did the hardest one on my list :) 6 years ago

indigostrings6 days to go

The race is next Thursday and I already ran 2.6 miles. I will try to aim for 3 miles tonight. Then I have to run again on Sunday and Tuesday.

My goal is to run 4 miles before race day. 6 years ago

indigostringsKelly's Hare Hop

The first Sunday in March, there is a race in Mystic. I ran it in 29 minutes back in 2002. I’m trying to get my mom to run it with me. 7 years ago

The last time I ran the race I did it in 46:40. It was a tough course with lots of hills. I took at least 4 walking breaks. This year I might run it with my boyfriend, who is convinced he will whip me. He’s the type that would make fun of me for being faster. Whatever, it would be 6 weeks after birthing a child. What do you expect?

I would like to run it in 53 minutes this year. Reasonable? 7 years ago

indigostringsI can't wait!

The race is 4.74 miles, mostly uphill. It’s hard, but soooo fun. The weather kicks ass and people around you cheer from the sidelines. Since I am more than 9 months pregnant (baby due any day), there’s no chance of me training for it until he’s born. I have a sweet jogging stroller. I want so bad for my son and boyfriend to join me! It will be so fun to push the baby along. I KNOW I will suck at running it since I barely ran in the past year or so, but I know I can do it. 7 years ago
