Well, its still slow going, but I’m making less mistakes than I was.
I really started making an effort when my mouse started doing this thing where it would click without me pressing it so cut-n-paste became impossible. I wanted to make a list of medical prefixes and suffixes in Word and even at my rate it was faster to type than try to paste stuff in (and much less aggravating.) So, its going well. Hopefully I’ll graduate to touch typing before too terribly long. :)

making an effort to put my fingers in the proper places when I’m not in much of a hurry. :)
probably something i should know by now, I’m 20!! I have mavis beacon, but I don’t seem to be getting anywhere :(
When I was in elementary school, I always finished first when we had to do things in the computer lab. And so, the teacher always made us play a game designed to teach people how to type. The only reason it took so long was because we only went to the computer once or twice a month. By the time I was 8 years old, I could type about 60 words per minute and they were usually spelt correctly.

Now I’m off the homerow and Shift and have added “e” and “n.” I actually find e and n easier than my trouble homerow keyes: s, k, and l.
I’m starting to think that my synesthesia is making this hard. The type I have, grapheme → color synesthesia, is an involuntary association of letters with specific colors (I see an “a,” my brain perceives it as red, “b” is blue, etc…).
I have an ok time typing with my left hand and a noticibly harder time with my right, even though I am right-handed. I think this may be due to the fact that the left-handed keyboard keys are letters with very strong color associations, while I perceive most of the right hand keys as neutral colors. J, K, L, ;, and N only vary slightly from beige (N) to very light lavender (J). In essence, I think I see an “L” come up in the typing practice and it takes noticibly longer for my brain to distinguish which letter to type than say, for “e,” which is a unique, vivid green.
Hmm.

...on the “homerow keys,” that is, and not even with the Shift key yet. I found a great webpage with free typing lessons (FreeTypingGame.net) and got through the first 4 lessons like lightning. Now, however, I find it extremely hard to move my pinkies without taking my whole hand off the keyboard so the “a” and ”;” and Shift are ruining EVERYTHING!! :)
Still, I improve my wpm so much in the space of 15 minutes practice that I’m confident this is going to work for me.
I noticed I’m typing this the cheater way. Ha.
PS- Posture changes everything. Easier to type with a straight back!
So far I think Ive managed 20/30 minutes most days
practising with the ‘strange’ kids typing programme.
It suits me a little to well ; D
Ive noticed some improvement & Im confident this is
is achievable IF I keep at it.
