It is ridiculously hot outside. So, to that end, I’m planning on joining a gym that just opened across from my work, Planet Fitness. This gym is open 24 hours a day for the weekdays, and I work to very late hours, so I think I’ll just go there after work at around 1 AM or so and get a late night work out in. That’s the time I most feel the urge to run anyways. Also, Planet Fitness focuses on overall fitness, not body building, which is totally my ethos. I’d rather be chiseled than buff.
I ran just under 4:30 pretty steady for a few months when I was training for college track, but then I got sick. I have heart problems and chronic ulcerative colitis so it kind of made me give up. But now at 21 years old I’ve realized I really want to be even faster than I was, unfortunately I have to do it piece by piece, piece number 1 is beating that 5 minute mark again!
I suggest you try to do this in a race with some competiiton thats also sub 5 or so. run steadily (evenly) intil about a lap and a half, and gradually speed up until your at top speed the last 200 or 100. this culd take practice. try it when your on training runs and stuff.
Dont go out too fast, sub 5 is not as hard as you might think. i got 5:03 once in a time trial without a problem.
