Keep a goat

I can’t remember how young I was when I realised I liked goats, it seems I always have.
I can remember going to the petting zoo at London Zoo when you could still go in with the animals, before all this panic about diseases, and thinking how cool they were. They seem to think they are above you and their eyes are very weird (and satanic I realise now I’m older) and intelligent.
I would love to know if goats hung around with people before dogs. (I go with the theory that dogs hung around with people before we were people and the partnership allowed us to lose our muzzles and begin to talk).
At the moment I don’t have the space for a goat – in a modern house it wouldn’t be practical to let it indoors – I’m not THAT mad!
I’d ideally like one of those with big floppy ears – I really must find a picture of one to add to this.
