After the Romance languages
gartck is making lists
...and I haven’t read from it since January. I want to learn how to speak Gaelic, but it’s really hard when there is no one with whom to speak.
To be blunt, I love all things having to do with the motherland and think it would be awesome to sit down and have a conversation in Gaelic. Plus, it would just be bad ass to know.
and I need to get started on them. I am starting with a generic learning to speak another language book first and then I have a grammar book and a lesson book to use after that. I also have a book on the history of Ireland and a few historical fiction novels on their way to my home, too, from PBS. I am excited to do this…
there’s a class here.. $35 for like 2.5 hours one night. is it worth it???
Ordered three books tonight for this goal. One book on basic learning of languages and two specific books on learning Irish Gaelic.
I also plan to read my history of Ireland book this year.
I went to Ireland last winter and I loved it. My family is originally from Ireland, so I’m sure they spoke Gaelic. I bought some books when I was there, and started to learn, but I broke it off. Will start again, though.
Cleaning up…just not realistic or very important, despite my last post.
But, you know, if I didn’t have this on here I’d probably have “Learn to speak Icelandic” in place of it. Eventually I will be able to converse in very obscure languages.
