littleluckystartoo busy...

though if you spread out all the new things i have tried this year, it probably would equal out to one new thing a week, i am too busy at this point in my life to be actively seeking new things each and every week. i’ll try it again later maybe?? 5 years ago

rikhi86ing this

I do think this is a good habit to get into. I have been a bit lax in terms of updates- but essentially it’s good to stretch your rubber band out a bit from time to time.

Recently I’ve been seeing a lot more exhibits of photography and artwork, going to fairs and galleries and so forth. [Damn I missed the Bollywood dancing yesterday in Darling Harbour].

There is a danger though. Which is that if you find some projects to commit to- I do think it’s a better idea to get adequate or at least master a few things before you entertain other diversions.

This goal is a good one to commit to for a while because you learn to be curious outside of yourself- like you exhaust the list of things you’d normally want to try but don’t- then you start looking and this is the most worthwhile outcome. It’s curiousity re-awakening.

bloody FLU! it’s killing me- the closest I’ve come to this recently is studying some aboriginial artwork- I’m looking for a good Aboriginal Artwork of a kangaroo to tattoo on my thigh.

I plan to go to American soon (Ogdensburg to be precise) it should be a novelty there.

Soon as I get better I’ll be back in the swing of things.

rikhiokay so this entry is a little bit tardy

BUT last week i had some portfolio shots taken for extra work. So I pulled my finger halfway out and it’s already Friday and I haven’t been able to successfully resize them to upload to my website to get some work yet. Sooooooooooooooooo, better get on the bike with this. This should probably go under `confront my fears’ goal because looking at pics of myself fills me with horror and I’ve always hated being photographed- and this guy wants to do film extra work??! YAH! If I made any sense I might rule the world and we wouldn’t want THAT! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

rikhiwhoopee

I got an agent for extra work- now to consumate my goal to do a bit part extra piece in a Bollywood film being shot in Sydney! Or something else pretty stupid actually- hahahahahaha!

rikhibugger I'm two weeks late already!

Okay so I’ve been to busy to post, but I did stuff, or is it 3 weeks, but hell I fell in love which I forbade myself from doing again, got slightly better at snail mail, have been looking for an agent and so I might actually mark this little blighter off the list, nah I’ll leave it stew a while longer. I think the moral of this story is that if you roll a little snowball down a hill the little fuqr will get bigger. I would recommend this without hesitation….. ® 6 years ago

rikhikill two birds & get stoned- week 4.

Rollerblading…

Okay rollerblading was on my goal list but I had a proper lesson and signed up for a course and I’m going again today which means tomorrow I’ll be walking like I was looking for true love in jail or something (oh oh I’ve got kung fu right after this, isn’t going to be pretty).

well anyway it’s better for the soul than the gym I was going to where they had these horrible people barking out at everyone over really cheesy music (it was like Dante’s inferno- yuk!) not that I did those classes but having to listen to them was horrifying. Gawd I have to find a gym which hasn’t changed since about 1955 I think.

But anyway rollerblading is better because it seriously works your legs, ass & lower stomach but regardless of all that- when you get a little speed up, you get a nice adrenalin stone from it. The Sydney Harbour Bridge is also an incredibly beautiful place to blade over.

‘Nuff said.

rikhi......

whoopee I managed to avoid this entirely while dealing with the vicissitudes of life. Well I did sign up at consumating.com which friends recommended and it sucked buckets so I’ll delete that. Also planned more than I was able to do.
Didn’t get to check out the new graveyard I discovered either. Bother!

littleluckystarthis week

i printed a page on an old fashioned printing press! it was so fun, but really time consuming and tough to find all the letters, make sure they were properly spaced and in the correct order/orientation, and not over-ink the plate. after many tries, i got it to work and it looked fine. now i have the rest of the semester to make a book! yay! 6 years ago

rikhiWeek 3

I done new stuff but I can’t describe it because it was very very hot and Lucy (my motorbike) and I did over 100miles around the city and my hands are still tingling and my ass hurts and I got real stupid tan lines which stop where my gloves start so I look like a fool. So I did it and I’ll stop talking already.

littleluckystarseveral new things in the past week!

last friday i cooked seafood at home for the first time! then on saturday, i walked from my boyfriend’s house to the marina, exploring all the houses i had never seen before (and deciding which ones i’d buy if i had endless money, haha). today i joined weight watchers, my first time doing anything like that. my new year’s resolution is, like everyone, to lose a few pounds, and this year i am going to do it!

this week is the beginning of my last semester of college. since i’m done with most of my credits, i get to take some interesting and random classes. we’ll see in a week what other new things i’ve tried! :o) 6 years ago

rikhiSUCCESS!

This goal seems to become habit forming…. If you focus on it- you get in the habit of pursuing it more and more. So I rode into town and saw the Goddess exhibition at the Art Gallery (I hate crowds so this was a stretch), then I went to speakers corner in the Domain
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Domain,_Sydney

There was a photographer there who surreptitiously took a photo of me (like I couldn’t tell, you camera wielding fuq!), but I let it happen which is completely out of character…..

got a new tattoo which I’d been postponing for 6 months…

The rest may seem like hayward & piffle but the habit carries over and I found myself trying new dishes in restaurants and so on…..

Now if I couldn’t only do my bloody taxes with equal applomb.

This week I think it’s time to look into enrolling in drawing classes but I’ll see what unfolds…..

littleluckystarwell, it is january 8th, so...

i’m already a week behind. but not really… i tried some things last week i probably wouldn’t have otherwise. for example, i went on a walking tour of my neighborhood. i also bought a book i had never heard of on a whim. this week, i am teaching myself calligraphy. we’ll see how it goes… 6 years ago

rikhi bugger a week already!

This is a funny pursuit- because i’ve found I’ll set out to try something in particular and wind up doing something completely different. For instance I got caught in the rain on the way to art gallery (on a motorbike- and I didn’t want to see the exhibit feeling like a soggy sao) so went back and played around with bread recipes I hadn’t tried….

I went to find a Buddhist Centre in Marrickville but it had closed down and explored the suburb instead. So it’s quite invigorating- essentially if you strive do something where you would have otherwise done nothing…. Well you end up doing something anyway- and it may just surprise you.

For this week I think it should be art gallerys but I’ll see how it pans out.

rikhiHere we go....

Well this is one similar to `confront my fears’ but a fun one.
I feel all too atrophied. I want to do something new each week that I would normally talk myself out of. Something that is mildly unsettling but holds the possibility of being rewarding.

Some ideas at this stage are- try out a new Zen meditation technique at the Buddhist library, See the Hindu/Buddhist exhibition at the art gallery if it’s still on, learn to rollerblade properly- ie take lessons, finally sit down with the abacus and learn to use it….. Well there are umpteen millions things to try these days and many are already listed on 43things. I guess the benefit here is I can preplan or be totally spontaneous. It’s all about getting off ones ass….
