I was sorting through a stack of collected pages (ya know, you’re reading a magazine or newspaper and find something of interest so you tear the page out and save it til later but you forget until eventually you get tired of looking at the pile and just shove the whole friggin thing into the recycle container) and realized I had a large pile of recipes that will be perfect for my New Recipe goal. I don’t, however, have anywhere to put all these bits and figured it would be nice to have a recipe box.
I have hundreds of recipes typed up in Word, ready to be printed on 4×6 cards, so I started searching online for blank cards. The more I searched the more I began to understand that I did NOT want to put everything into an organized, alphabetical box.
Gasp! Shock! How can this be!
I know! OCD ME craves a decorated box that I can just plop my pages into willy nilly.
Wandering around the craft store recently it occurred to me that I already had the perfect box at home – acquired via the purchase of my running shoes. Unlike most shoe boxes, the lid is not separate but instead just flips up. The box is large enough I can fold the collected recipes in half and lay them in the box to be rummaged through at my leisure.
Tonight I pulled out the can of spray adhesive, a pair of scissors, and another pile of collected items – this one images from magazines, calendars, scraps of colorful paper. I cut and pasted the front and two sides on but have discovered that it is too cold in the house for the glue to stick so it looks like this project is on hold until next laundry day.
I wonder if I should get some decopage paste to give it a protective finish…
