How to create a recipe box by sarah127

"A fun thing to do and great way to remember relatives and family recipes"

How I did it: I would not have been able to do this without the talented artisans at etsy.com. There I found a very talented artist who makes custom decoupaged recipe boxes out of wood with matching divider tabs. I picked out the paper and got to have it made exactly how I wanted. The seller was so friendly and the finished product tured out amazing! Here's a link to the seller, for anyone who's interested:

Next, I ordered hand printed recipe cards from a different seller on Etsy. They were very affordable and unique looking.

After I had all the right products, I gathered together all my favorite cookbooks and started copying down tried and true recipe favorites. I also had my parents and grandparents give me all our family favories. The divider tabs I purchased made it so easy to organise!

And it's as simple as that!

Lessons & tips:

  • Have family members each hand write their recipes on the cards for you. Seeing my grandmother's handwriting on my favorite dishes she used to prepare is so special.

    A Traditional Recipe Box 3 months ago

    I would like a traditional recipe box in my kitchen. It will contain ONLY favorite go-to recipes handwritten on 3×5” cards. When I’m ready to cook my recipes will be ready at hand, and I won’t have to dig through that big shoebox full of clippings or search the internet to find a recipe.

    i bought a binder and some plastic sleeves. the whole project was less than $10 and now i don’t have to print out recipes every time i want to make something because they’re all in one place. and if i get the recipe dirty, i can simply wipe it off since it’s in a plastic sleeve.
