mail birthday cards/gifts on time

was a good reminder of just how important this goal is. It makes such a difference to the person having the birthday just to know that you remembered them.

I think in the past I’ve gotten stuck on the “gift” part of this goal because finances are tight and I stress about the expense and number of birthdays I want to acknowledge.

As I get older I realize it’s not so important the dollar amount of the gift (except for one arm of the family where that seems to be valued). Instead I want to focus on cards and phone calls, on time. I need to do better, which means finding some time to plan ahead. As someone else here said, coming up with a system and actually using it.

and marking it a success. Having this goal helped me to see the consequences of my procrastination. I hate mailing things late! While October is a quiet month for me birthday wise, I am bustling in November with dates to remember. I have confidence that I will be on time in November. I can always re-open this goal if drop the ball.

Okay, it’s time to come up with a system. Looking back at my entries in this goal, I have demonstrated consistent difficulty remembering to send out cards/gifts on time. With this new system, I will list out the name/occasion and then cross them out when I send their card/gift. I think this may work.

mailed Noah’s gift today. I sent along a card for Jen. Aaron and sis’s cards await mailing as well as JP’s. Hers and her gift are ready.

Aaron. Gotta get a card in the mail by the 21st.

Paul’s card is done and I will give him some of the cookies I make tomorrow. Noah…hmmm…a gift for a 5 year-old.
