Visa billing for $2500. Wtf! At least it’s only 1 card! I can’t begin to move forward carrying a burden of debt like this. Even if I tried to turn my life around for better, I wouldn’t be able to invest in necessary things, for good habits are costly too. I wouldn’t be able to fall in love without falling into debt.

How I did it: The truth is, I didn't actually pay it off. Nor will I. I have simply shifted things so that I can build my credit. Instead of making a payment to this card and buying groceries, instead I use the card to buy groceries and then use that money to pay the card. I simply make sure that I am paying more each month than I am actually using. The payments are high, what gets charged gets paid off each month, and eventually, there will not be an … Read how I did it…

How I did it: It's not fun, but write out how much you owe, how much you earn, list all bills, then set out a payment schedule of your own. Never pay just min balance. For two months, really did not go out or buy anything fun because took all the extra money and paid off the card. However, knew that after those 2 months, I'd have all that extra money to save for a trip or something else. Read how I did it…

I’m trying hard to make a bit more than the minimum payment each month. I managed it this month so huzzah.
When stuff gets straightened out – I’ll be able to throw more money at this – and therefore bring down the monthly payments. woohoo.

after talking with hubby, decided to take a different approach with this—we’re going to pay the minimum rounded up to the nearest ten dollars, and put the ‘extra’ I’ve been paying into savings instead via direct deposit. Then once the balance is low enough and our savings is high enough- we’ll just pay it off.
I’ll continue to update this goal here, though, because the balance will continue to go down- just slower is all. But, the goal is that we’ll have a nest egg for when we need it and a little wiggle room in our budget.

I just paid on the smaller of the two cards, and here’s the breakdown.
card 1: $138.63 left (give or take)
card 2: $2898.45 left (give or take) <—will pay on it by 21st
total: $3037.08

It’s actually $3054 (hubby ‘needed’ to use it for props/costumes or something for the Lights of Broadway)... so, some of that will come back to us, but we’re saddled with it for the time being.
Will get back out of the $3000’s this month.
As I rebuild my credit … Instead of paying groceries and then making a credit card payment, instead, pay for my groceries with the credit card then use the grocery money plus the credit card money to make a payment. This will show higher payments and more use of the card which is bound to improve my rating.
And with time, it will get paid down, but my balance is very low anyway. The eventual goal is to pay off the balance each month then take the original credit card payment and put it toward savings or my investment accounts.
I’ve already done this with the gas card.

jramirez29 is inspired by this list of things I want to do in life!
So I found this great website called www.mint.com that helped me realize how much money I was blowing on nonsense instead of paying down my credit card debt.
So now I am on a realistic financial plan, and I am inspired that I can pay my debt down in like a year….yay!

Yay! I just made an early payment on the credit card because I can and I want to make progress!
Paid $350 (but, with fees deducted, it’s as if I paid $338.67)
so, our new total is about:
$2,971.45
Time to update my wealth goal!
