I still don’t like to get water in my eyes and it took me until 2008, but I finally got comfortable with swimming. My stroke technique is awful but I’m not scared anymore. But I’m still leaving this up, since I want to learn new strokes and to do them with more coordination.

I try to swim, I really do. I can only last minutes in the water without getting exhausted though. I can barely freestyle. Even Breaststroke makes me tired. Backstroke is O.K. but I’m not usually in a situation to use it and I simply can’t do Butterfly. I can do doggy-paddle but it just isn’t enough any more. I’m couldn’t swim until I was 7 because I had to self teach and I don’t want to be affected forever because of this.
I love swimming! But can only go 1 or 2 times a year. (even though the pool is very near)
My friend has moved next to the local pool so she said she could invite me over and we could go in together. It’s been really wet and cold lately so I can’t go very soon.
Perhaps my parents will let me take lesson in the Christmas holidays… Highly doubtful but worth a try. Wish me luck.
First step is finally agreeing to go shopping with my mum to get a good swimsuit. The one I have now is board shorts and a sun top…. I’m REALLY over it….
EDIT: Word’s spread around that next term we’ll be doing a year 7 Swimming Scheme. (YAY!) Really hope that we do. :)
About three years ago I finally learned how to float (I LOVE floating) in the water and even swim a little bit. But only being able to get to a pool a few times I year I haven’t made much progress. Every time I go, it takes me a few minutes to even get comfortable again. I am not scared of being in the water (except maybe if I’m in an ocean) but I still am not comfortable getting water in my eyes or my face wet! And my coordination leaves something to be desired. But, 2007 is the year that I am taking by the proverbial bull by the horns, so I wanted to add this to my list, too. No more fears of water in my eyes!
don’t want to drown in the ocean this summer, though i technically learned to swim in elementary school.
I took a TI (Total Immersion) Freestyle Swimming course during the weekend. I was skeptical that they could help me learn how to swim better with only one weekend of instruction. But it did help me. It was a good thing I decided to do this. I highly recommend the course to those who want to learn proper freestyle swimming technique.
so f&m invites were at the beginning of the month and i got my best times!! but im still towards the bottoms of the standings in my conference, so im gonna hafta do better.
plus, i cant beat fifi yet….
After months of interruption (I had no choice), I started again this WE, friday evening and saturday afternoon. I haven’t forgotten everything. That’s not too bad.
I’ve always been bad. But I wanted to improve. I really started to work hard when I was 24. Now, after years of training, according to my former coach, my style “looks like swimming”. But I still suck. I really want to improve this. See the next goal on the list.
I do NOT want to be embarrased in the water by being crushed by the other swimmers. practice, practice, practice
