My new love. 2 years ago

I’ve always been slightly interested in philosophy. I really had no clue what philosophy was all about, but I know I was always keen with things that were tagged to be philosophical. Eventually, somehow, Im not sure, the book Sophies World landed in my hands. If I remember right, it was in my mothers room, and she was not a fan of the book, haha. Sophies World stirred up a lot of thought inside my mind, and in high school, I did start to take a new spin on things after reading the book. I can say that the book was life changing.

I always thought that philosophy was something just to tinker with. So when I took Introduction to Philosophy at my college, I didn’t expect to take it in as much as I did.
The concepts within the area make complete sense to me. As aloof as some may consider them to be, especially the view of Descartes and such, they make sense to me. The actual view I may not agree with myself, but I do appreciate,(which is an understatement) the road within mind that it took to that view, and sometimes, there are writings covering a view that the writer doesn’t fully support himself, but again, it’t what it took to get to that idea. That itself is fascinating.

Overall, what’s incredible about philosophy to me right now, is what it does to the mind, which is the center of our lives. Within the little time I have spent studying philosophy, I have seen immense changes in how I go about nearly everything. The impact it has made on my life is comparble to being “born again.” I think the study has put a lot of power back into my life, and there couldn’t have been a better time for philosophy to enter my life, as there are some major road blocks in my life (I didn’t even know existed) that I am getting over because of what I have gained by studying philosophy for a very short time…3ish months.

Because of how much philosophy can bend your mind and all the opening and prying open you must do to be successful with it, I think the study should be required in high school classes. That would be a perfect time for it to be studied as I remember and witness a lot of young people on a narrow and majorly unquestioned path that isnt fulfilling to many people. I couldn’t figure out why I have tried so many techniques and other things to make me content, but I have finally found a foundation . :)

I think I should sell philosophy on TV …haha.

Anyhow, I am way new in the study, and I am excited to see how things develop. I am willing to put a lot of energy and extra time in order to cultivate wisdom… :D
