After i realised i had a pot belly appearing i got to work on my fitness.I hired a concept 2 machine for 3 months on top of 3 strength training sessions a week, yoga and other various exercices.I’ve lost the pot belly and i feel so much fitter.I still haven’t finished yet but i feel fit again.

I guess I'm closer than I thought 2 years ago

So I joined a new gym recently that is geared toward getting you in shape for the outdoor things you enjoy doing, rather than simply being a gym with weight equipment to help you get big and bulky. It’s been pretty good so far, although my sprained shoulder has slowed me down in terms of doing all of the things I want to do.

But I met with my trainier and had a fitness test done, as well as measurements taken. I don’t have a lot of room to complain here since the results of my fitness test place me as an “elite” athlete and I’ve got less than 7% body fat. But I still feel there is room to improve, which is where my trainer comes into play. I’m hoping to improve my endurance enough to enter some mtn bike races this year.

Plus I still need to gain back some of that weight I lost last year- in muscle mass!

It's starting to feel damn good now! 2 years ago

So I’ve gotten back into the habit of working out, and not simply on a physical level! The biggest struggle over the last few months was attitude- I didn’t really care for the gym I was going to, I was working a lot and my energy levels were low (this was also food related).

But I’ve been going at least four times a week over the last two or three weeks and it feels great! My muscles have just sprung back to life- nice and hard, feeling/seeing the definition take place again, feeling the expansion of my muscle… it all feels so damn good and I want to keep it up!

I changed the gym I’m going to so that helps, plus the mental aspect of it, and witnessing my muscles come back to life have all been positive factors in my comeback!

    Day 1 2 years ago

I hit the gym last night for the first time in a couple of months. The delay has been a combination of things- long days during Dec, not eating enough food, not enjoying the facility I go to, etc. The saddest part was the eliptical machine- I have lost a lot of my endurance and fitness so I’m going to have to work really hard to get my body primed up for mtn biking. But I plan on going back tonight, and the following day, and continue it until it becomes a good habit again!

I can feel it in my will 2 years ago

I can feel that vibe in my body again- it’s time to get serious about my body and health. I ended up running the other night, totally unprepared and in all the wrong clothes. But it felt insanely good to have that huge muscle of a heart pounding and working hard to make that run seem effortless.

It made me realize how fit I was about a year ago when I was on my mtn bike nearly every day. I didn’t ride nearly as much or hard this last year and my body suffered for it. Also, my motivation in the gym has been next to nothing, so it has been a bad combination.

Mentally I’m already gearing up to break out the mtn bike gear and hit some trails. There is no snow here in Seattle, just pure, blissful mud! I’m getting excited to ride and to get back in shape!
