I didn’t have time to get in a real climb, but just tooling around with half a wall felt awesome, no problems, no pain. Pushing off with the left leg was not an issue, so I guess all this gym stuff has paid off handsomely. I’m nearly ecstatic.
Those of you that remember last June, know how big of a deal that is for me. I’m relieved to know that the knee WILL do this.
The indoor set up was great, they had 3-4 bouldering units, and a huge rope wall. They had a yoga room, some funky slatted climbs, and other experimental set ups. Think jungle gym for grown ups.
From day one, I can tell you I’m feeling similar to this as I did from the first time I got on my road bike. Oh hell. Here we go again. :D

and he’s a member at a local rock climbing gym that I didn’t even know existed. Although my preference is to be outdoors, the fact that this gym is just a few minutes from my office makes it a very attractive alternative during the week.
This will be a great workout, something to throw into my fitness mix with the gym and cycling. I cannot wait!

Awesome fun!

We finally did it! A 90m taster at The Castle (a climbing centre in an old mill) (http://www.castle-climbing.co.uk) got us time on the walls (2 of us with one v. competent instructor) and a terrifying but satisfying 100ft abseil down the inside of one of the chimneys.
I’m going to sign up for their safety course so I can become a member, because i LOVED it. Scrambling up walls, knowing that even if you slip you’ll only end up dangling in mid-air… it’s a liberating feeling!

My son has done this, so this maybe something we can do together. There are place around where I live but not convenient. Perhaps if I research and find that a place has a deal going as its not inexpensive.

This could fill that pesky gap between skiing and kayaking. I’ll give it a shot this fall.

Which is pretty expensive for just 4 classes. Still, I’m going to call the instructor to decide if I’ll start the course

LL is EXCITED! Matty got his visa!!
and really enjoyed it.
It’s in a castle… a castle. Heh.
Enjoyed the first session so much, that I went back again on Monday night. And I’m still sore. My arms, back, legs, etc. Not as sore today as yesterday, thankfully.
Going back again tomorrow night. I’ll see if I can get some pics from the top of the climb. Hopefully without either myself, or my camera, plummeting to the ground.

I’ve asked at University and they told me I have to wait a couple of weeks because they haven’t settle the fee. I’ll ask in a gym near my house, I went there today but it was closed, apparently they work strange hours.
