    over 10% 2 years ago

We’re at about 50%+ right now. Some weeks it’s closer to 90%. Also booked a spot for our October wedding that has only organically grown food (including meat). What will the inlaws say when they discover there are no soft drinks! I’m gleefully awaiting the day.

since I am purchasing well over 10% organic right now. I have already spread the message as well, getting my sister and one of my friends to sign up!

One More Reason to Go Organic!

By Annie Berthold-Bond, Care2.com Producer, Green Living Channels

One More Reason to Go Organic! Potatoes, pecans, and sugar beet crops are commonly treated with a fungicide that tests show not only renders immune system killer cells helpless, but they never recovered and became weaker over time. The new research conducted at Tennessee State University was presented this month at the annual meeting of the American Chemical Society.

When natural immune system killer cells were exposed to the fungicide Triphenyltin (TPT), laboratory tests show that within one hour the cells have a reduced ability to fight tumors by 50 to 60 percent, and after 6 days that power diminished to 84 percent. It is not known if these laboratory results are applicable to animals and humans, but more tests are recommended. The researchers also want to look into whether TPT can have a cumulative effect on the body.

    Sadly, 2 years ago

my organic consumption has actually dwindled in the past two years. When I lived in Toledo, then Columbus, Ohio I was buying at least 30% organic. Unfortunately, living in Enid, OK and then Minot, ND has been tough as far as organic consumption goes. You would think that in a state that derives 3/4 of it’s revenue from agriculture, finding organics wouldn’t be that hard! And yet, I am probably only purchasing about 10% right now. It’s no small victory though, that my military commissary is carrying organics! I have been able to find an astonishing selection of organics for a military installation. And I pledge to pick them up whenever I can! Hopefully the summer here will bring more farmer’s markets, too.

At least 10% organic 2 years ago

We have slowly worked ourselves up to at least 60% organic, so we’er a little past this goal, but this is a great way to spread the message.
