I got see and hear His Holiness at a public talk, a four day twice-daily lecture series, and a Long Life Celebration ceremony. His Holiness is so sharp (and so is his translator, my god was I was impressed with him), cute, warm, and GENUINELY happy. I am so grateful for all I got to see and hear, but I really really want to personally meet His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama – shake his hand, speak to him briefly – in Dharamsala. Or anywhere I could, actually. I hope that happens one day ~
How to hear the Dalai Lama speak
How I did it: I had tickets to see him speak back in 2001, but the event was cancelled due in part that he'd come down with some sort of illness.
Lessons & tips: Take the chance to see him if you can.

So as we speak I am sitting in the lobby of my hotel typing this up whilst sitting across from a Buddhist nun. Ive already met someone on the elevator who is attending the public talk – the mala on her wrist gave it away – and my Dad said there were many ppl at breakfast buffett who were here to see him. So its just a couple hours until I hear the Dalai Lama speak!!! Im very excited!!!
We’re about two weeks away from hearing His Holiness give a public talk on July 19th. The following day, his 4 day twice-daily lecture series begins, and then on Thursday morning July 24th we have a real nice treat: a long life celebration to offer up best wishes to HH for many, many more years of his earthly life to come. Definitely looking forward to this!!
As fate would have it, the Dalai Lama is coming to a neighboring state this summer. I have booked my tickets for the public talk, three day lecture series and one day celebration, so I might reach this goal pretty soon. Fingers crossed.
I also want to actually meet His Holiness, preferably at his residence in Dharamsala, but this for obvious reasons is a separate goal. :)
zerlina is trying to motivate herself to clean house.
I knew he was funny, but I didn’t expect to laugh so much.
He’s so wonderful to see and hear. We even ate Tibetian food after the lecture. It was a great day!
My friend that I’m going with is arranging a Tibetian dinner for all of us in Bloomington after we see the Dalai Lama. How cool is that?
