I spoke to my doctor last week about getting a tubal done after I have this baby. Apparently they don’t seem to like giving them to women who are young, but I’m hoping that they’re just going to look past that. I’ll be 22 with two children under two, and I’m done with having children. I always wanted just one child, but this was an unexpected pregnancy…but I definitely know I do NOT want more than two. Period.
He said he will schedule me to have it done after the baby is born in September, so we’ll see how it all goes down then I guess!

After extensive consultation with my rheumatologist and OB/GYN, the collective decision was to, if at all possible, avoid the risks inherent in any surgery performed on an immune-suppressed subject. (Many of the drugs used to control rheumatoid arthritis inhibit immune response.)
Given this, back in March I had a Mirena IUD inserted, and so far, so good! However, if this had not worked out for me, the next step would have been the ligation.

it’s true. there could possibly be regret. but i can’t understand why it’s someone else’s problem what MY regret is. people are so good at imposing their ideas on others.
you must want children; you will not be whole without them.
you must not abort; you will be a murderer.
you must not sterilize yourself (especially if you are young); you will regret it.
once a woman told me that they don’t allow young women to get a tubal ligation because they felt that they were too immature to truly understand what it meant. i’m sure all the pregnant 14 year old’s completely understand the burden of birthing a child. i’m 24 and i can’t choose to permanently rid myself of the ability to bear children because i’m too young, but a 14 year old has the right to bring life into the world regardless of age, capacity or thought. the same woman argued that it was not natural. i read somewhere that rabbits can sometimes absorb their litters if their warrens are over populated. it happens in nature, what could be more natural?
i’m not weird. i’m not a lesbian. i’m not empty. i just want to make a choice have it respected.

I’ve had so many side effects from having this procedure done, I wish I would of looked into it more…now there is nothing I can do but deal with the pain…and I mean that literally…every month I’m doubled over in pain…for anyone who is looking into getting this procedure done really research it and take into consideration the possible side effects that come with having this done…I can’t tell you enough how much I regret it now…

I’m 41. I don’t want kids. I only hesitate to do this because I live in a majority Catholic area and I have no medical insurance. I’m pretty sure I’d get raked over the coals about it because I’m not married.
Can anyone give me an idea what the operation might cost (financially)?
