travel to 50% of the world's countries and learn enough about their culture to appreciate it

I’m going out of the country for the first time in January! It’s not a very big trip, only to the Bahamas. But I’m pretty excited about it!

I’ll probably take a trip to Mexico a year after that.

I’d love to join the Peace Corps after I finish school, but that all depends on my current situations. However it would be an excellent opportunity. I would love to work over in northwester Africa, in the countries that they speak French. But that is all circumstantial, of course.

There are about 200 countries in the world. So if I’ve visited 7, I have at least 93ish to go! :D

I’d love to visit:

Spain
Ireland
Austria
Japan
Brazil
Egypt

Those are the VERY top of my list. In all likely hood, I am pretty much going to hit those in the order I listed ‘em. I’m planning to revisit Europe in 2009 so I’ll probably be able to see Spain, Ireland, and Austria at that time. I’m also planning to Asia hop in 2009 or 2010 so that’s Japan! :D

I’ve hit up seven countries, not including America, which is where I was born and am still living in. :) It’ll be a while more before I even get anywhere near to 50% but hey, never doubt right? And never say never!

Stuck in a shitty job and not travelling a lot :(

I’ve been to Asia a couple of times (3 but I can’t remember the first time) as well as spending 6 weeks in Paris, France. I’m heading to London this spring (in 3 weeks) for a semester, and from there, planning to visit Scotland, Ireland, and probably a couple more countries. To some, this seems like so little. But to the people in my life, they think it’s a lot and they think I’m adventurous. I just want to learn more about different cultures!

I’ve always been interested with traveling and while I’m not a world-traveler yet (as I’m young and not laden with money) I do plan to visit different places and observe (and participate if possible) other cultures.

I say 50% because there are over 200 countries in the world and I’d like to visit a lot of unconventional (meaning not the “biggies”) places as well.

I believe I can always find something to appreciate even if the experience is a horrible one so that’s my goal – to find something (at least one) good thing in each place I visit.
