There was a pet parade,
We had the choice of taking
our doggy, our cat,
one of the rabbits,
or one of the two goats.
So we settled on our baby, Jacques.
And we transformed him into a Butterfly Goat!
He won first prize!
Succulent Butterfly-Goat of mine!

We fell in love with her. We spent hours playing with her,
gazing into her deep brown eyes, holding our hands to the glass
wishing we could touch her. She was facinated with the little
plastic gorillas we brought along. I miss her already! 6 years ago

I noticed every tree, every twig, every breeze.
And from far off I noticed this tree.
I was appreciating all the beauty that the Grounds Keeper
had been cultivating. But this tree was strange to me.
As we approached it on the 4th fairway, I pondered why
it had been kept. The evergreens all around it were perfect,
straight and true. The grounds were literally unblemished,
save this one tree. And then it spoke to me.
“I am crooked. But look to my roots.
I am strong. I stand.
I stand as tall as I am able.
I reach my branches upward to praise my Maker.
I have survived.
My crooked makes me beautiful.
Just as I am.
I am worthy.
I stand out.
You gazed across this lawn, and looked to me
not to others.
You sought me out.
Be reminded that there is beauty in everything.
Crooked is what I am.
And for me, crooked is perfect”

Jacuzzi Suite spontaniously rented on a Wednesday afternoon…$126.00
Suave Shampoo to stand in for bubble bath…$0.89 cents
Playing Uno in the jacuzzi tub in the middle of the day,
in the middle of the week,
making silly faces for the camera,
thereby keeping the cabin fever at bay?... Priceless!

She only gets $6.00 a week, three of which goes to the bank.
She always wants to stretch her dollars,
so she likes to browse at the Goodwill.
(She comes from a long line of thrift store shoppers!)
Last week she spent .50 cents each on two candles and their stands,
as a just-because gift for her mother.
And so every night this week,
I have burned these candles at dinner.
One of them is an Easter egg
(you can see where she pealed off the Goodwill price-tag)
The other is a taper that was originally from Germany.
It’s not Easter,
our dining room isn’t pastel blue,
I’m not from Germany,
nor have I ever been a tourist there,
and yet…
these candles have flickered and danced
adding ambiance and pride to my dining room table nightly.
She’s so proud.
I’m so proud.
And I think it’s all pretty succulent! 6 years ago
